Long ago, the gods who ruled the earth played with the hearts of mortals. They made them fall in love to increase the power that they could obtain from the worship. The gods of love, Philia, Eros, Agape, and Storge, watched these hearts break as the love they created was treated like a game. They grew angry with more and more hearts breaking and the idea of love became cruel and mortals tried to avoid the emotion.

To amend what the others had done, a curse was placed on love. Every time a heart is broken, a part of the earth will break to reflect the heart was broken. As hearts broke valleys and cracks in the earth had started to form but the gods couldn't have predicted what their curse would bring when one day.

One day, a heartbreak destroyed a whole civilization. We begin our journey on a beautiful island where the fate of thousands of lives are going to change very soon. Atlas Blake was rushing around his room to get ready for school before his mother woke up; he had his little brother, Leo, waiting at the door all ready to go and was rushing down the stairs before a voice froze him in his tracks.

"Atlas, why are you still here? You should be at school by now." The chilling tone his mother had made him shudder as he turned to face her.

"We were just leaving mom, we're just running a little late is all," He continued backing away towards the door.

His mother stalks towards him and as she nears, he can smell the alcohol coming off her breath and clothing, "I'm going to my dealer's house today. You're in charge of Leo," she then turned back towards her room before slamming the door.

Atlas sighed in relief before grabbing Leo's handing and heading towards the school. Dropping off Leo at his gate, he ran to the other gate on the east side of the school to see his friend, Kali, waiting, "Hey Blake, where have you been? We're going to be late for class."

"You didn't have to wait; you know I can get to class just fine on my own."

"Very true, but what kind of friend would I be leaving you all alone like that?" She bumped his shoulder before putting her earbuds in as they walked to class.

As they walked into the school Kali felt something wasn't quite right, "What did Rose do now?"

Atlas sighed, "Nothing too bad this time, don't worry about it, Lili."

Kali frowned and turned her music up looking away from her friend. He shook his head at the small girl next to him but didn't comment on the behavior, she wasn't going to be happy about it but she wouldn't push it. The two stopped as the floor cracked.

The pair looked over to see a young girl crying as another girl walked away laughing with her friends. Sighing, Atlas walked over touching her shoulder hesitantly so he wouldn't startle her.

"Hey, do you want to go see the counselor or something? That crack is pretty big," trying to use a soothing voice. He looked back at Kali for help, but she wasn't very empathetic in this type of situation.

The young girl shook her head as she tried and failed to stop her tears, "No, no, no, I'll be okay, thank you for checking on me.'

"Hey, it's fine my name is Atlas okay? If you need someone to talk to you can sit with us at lunch," He smiled as she nodded and headed towards the class.

As Atlas walks back to Kali, she shakes her head but says nothing about the situation as we walk into our literature class. Seeing the pain in the young girls' eyes only reminds the duo of that miserable day when they first saw what a broken heart could really do.

Atlas was going to meet Kali at the cafe as she needed some help with the assignment, as he approached, he heard loud screaming from behind the shop. He hurried to see what the commotion was only about to see Kali fighting with Knox, "You can't make me choose! It's not fair to anyone! He's been my best friend since I was 4! He's like my brother, he's family!"
