DAY { 2 }
I barely slept last night instead of me getting rest Lamb and I found ourselves trying a dining place down from the hotel it was more of a bundle of joy after being in the cold wind with droplets of rain slowly soaking our clothes as we were eating I came to a discovery, perhaps I do like whiskey. We arrived back at the hotel later than expected Lamb wasted no time and passed on the couch rarely making it to his bed I found myself a bit stranded I couldn't sleep it was because I wasn't used to it but somehow I managed to drift off to sleep reading a book my uncle picked up a few days ago from the book shop.
I woke up early Lamb was still asleep so I decided to sneak out, I bashed myself realizing I haven't called Joe every since it must've slipped my mind, I sent him a text instead just because I knew he was at work.
I'm here and I just wanted to let you know I'm ok,
call me after work or during break.I decided to see if John was awake by ringing his phone a few times it was annoying yes but I didn't want to adventure alone, after a few more times he finally picked up his phone.
"Claire, it's so early," he said wearily with a whiff of irritation.
"I know but— I want to go to the print shop, please John I don't want to go alone," I begged desperately.
"I can't say no to that, where are you?"
"Still at the hotel, I will text you my location."
"Alright."
The wait was long and if I didn't get out of here soon Lamb would be up wanting to adventure elsewhere, and that's when I realized I forgot the book. I rushed back to the room and grabbed it luckily my uncle was still snoring like a whale.
The rain started to be gentle and easy-paced not heavy at all I heard a honk outside the hotel it was John and Geillis I rushed to the car and took a seat in the back.
"What brings ye up so early," she asked.
"It's a vacation for me you know."
"Oh, aye that's right."
———
We finally arrived at the print shop I ran my fingers across the sign 'A. Malcolm printer and bookseller'As we walked in the bell rang loudly, the place filled with a lot of people more than I expected since it was so early, and God it was decorated like the 17th century no sign of lights only candles were lit it was just beautiful and gave me a breath of history.
A tall man with auburn fair hair length, long thick curls, and a tight shirt with a vest very handsome I thought came over to us.
"James!" John almost shouted, "we have someone who came to visit Scotland and she has a book that may interest you."
"This is...?"
"Aye," the man spoke sternly as he interrupted
me, "Will ye show me the book, lass," he said gesturing his hand out to mine."Yes, sorry." I gave the book to him, he felt the cover with his fingers sliding them across the cover slowly his eyes were in a spark of awe, he'd never seen a book like that.
"A verra auld book—– the cover— how could ye have such a book?" he stammered with question.
"It was a gift from my father so I'll never be sure how and where he got it from," I said in despair, It was the truth I'd never know.
"and I was wondering if you could mend it as you can tell the cover isn–"
"Aye, I can lass," he intruded.
