yellow light - monster among men
Michael Clifford usually wasn't the type of guy to become flustered easily. He knew how to keep cool in almost every situation. It was just the kind of person he was. He'd always been willing to take risks, open to almost every possible outcome. He figured if he kept an open mind about what could happen in every situation he was in. It'd leave little to no room for his nerves to kick in, and if his nerves had no room to kick in, there was no room for him to be flustered.
Key world in this whole situation? Usually.
This time however, the boy with the black and white hair found himself very flustered just at the mere thought of the girl he'd known as Astra. There was something radiating off of her that reached deep into his sense of being and messed with the persona he'd worked so long to build up.
He hadn't seen her since their interaction a couple days ago— well, more like she hadn't seen him. He was very aware of the fact she practically spent every breathing moment since her arrival out on that beach. Which is why Michael was inside, peering out his window at the peculiar girl every once in a while.
Okay, so maybe it's way more frequently than every once in a while, but Michael couldn't help himself.
There were so many things he wanted to know about her. He wanted to know what her voice sounded like, what her eyes looked like up close, why she was always alone. He'd never seen anyone else accompany her out on the Santa Cruz sand, which made him wonder what the explanation could've been.
This night was one of those nights where Astra found herself lying in the sand, staring at the various stars above her. She was looking for one in particular, just like she did every night.
All Michael could do was sit at the window of his bedroom and watch her eyes scan the sky from below him. He'd done this the past couple nights, wondering what could be going through her head.
She didn't fail to take notice of him like he'd initially thought though. So while Michael sat in his window practically smitten over the girl named after the stars, she tried her best to ignore him. Let's just say, that didn't work out very well.
Aster huffed, pushing herself up to sit in the sand before she turned her head to look directly at Michael.
"Shit." Michael whispered, ducking down below the windowsill as fast as he could. He waited there a couple minutes, hoping and praying that she didn't see him. Silence swallowed the room whole as Michael's eyes darted over to his alarm clock.
12:34 a.m.
Michael breathing was slow, trying to be as quiet as he could as if she would be able to hear him. In Michael's panic he obviously seemed to forget the fact that his window was indeed closed. There's no way she would've heard him. Now let's hope she didn't see him-
