The sound of the blaring screamo music made me want to punch the wall, and punch the guy. Argh. It was only 1pm in the afternoon, and I had already had enough. I was home alone. My parents and eldest sister were at work, while my brother at school. I groaned angrily and decided to go over and tell him to turn down the music. I never thought he'd be the type to listen to that type of music.

I banged on the door and rung the doorbell numerously and folded my arms. His mum was clearly not home since the driveway was empty. The door finally opened, revealing a young gorgeous girl with brunette hair, who was definitely not the sister.

'Please, tell your friend to turn down the music. I have a very important assignment due in tonight. Thank you.' I smiled at her which she didn't return.

'Sure.' She said, slamming the door in my face.

As I return to my bedroom, the music luckily went down a few notches and after two minutes, the sound went up again. They were doing it on purpose to piss me off. I returned to their front door and pounded the door again. The girl reappeared.

'For the love of God, turn down the music please!' I snapped. Just then, the music automatically stopped. That was easy. I thought. As I turned around, I realised why. The older brother had returned home in his sleek silver car.

'Is there a problem?' He asked.

'Um, not any-more, thanks.' I gave him a little smile and went to my door. Just as I was about to close it, he was in front of my door.

'We didn't get off to a good start. Anyway, my name is Calum.' He introduced himself. I looked at him sceptically.

'Rebecca.' We stood there, looking at each other.

'Aren't you going to invite me in?' He smiled at me a cute boyish smile, clearly turning on the charm.

'Um. No offence but no.' I was confused. Why on earth would I invite him in? Besides no one was home and if I was caught with a boy who wasn't a family member, I was pretty much dead. 'Bye.' I quickly shut the door.

A few short minutes later, there was a knock on the door. I contemplated whether to open it or not. This was silly of me. He knew I was home so I opened it.

'What?' I regretted it as I realised that my friend, Alana.

'Expecting someone else?' She winked at me.

'Hey sorry and no.' I said, letting her in.

'So who was that hottie?'

'Next door neighbour. They're bloody annoying. The younger one listens to screamo and wouldn't turn it down and that 'hottie', 'I gestured with my fingers, 'is so rude and arrogant.'

'You barely know him. ' SHe said, following me into the kitchen. I poured her some orange juice, as she never drunk fizzy drink.

'Yeah, I do. He was two years above me at school. All the girls were after him and he knew it and therefore acted like a prick. Besides, he got pissed off at me because of the things Adnan threw next door.'

'That is annoying.'

'But he was so rude about it even though I apologized.'

'You like him?' She asked as we sat down on the sofa.

'What would be the point? You know my spouse has to be some south Asian dude, who's some lawyer or doctor. You know what my mums like. Typical Asian.'

'Yeah, well, I'd better be off.'

'Already?' I asked as she got up. Secretly, I was kind of glad. I had to get back to the damn essay.

'Uh-huh. I was passing by and thought I'd quickly say hi. Thanks for the juice.' She gave me a quick hug and left.
