"LOCK IT, LOCK IT!" Scott yelled, rushing the two.

But Stiles didn't move, turning to him with wide eyes. "Do I look like I have a key?"

"Grab something!" Scott urged.

"What?"

"Anything!"

Hazel stood frozen, her breath caught in her throat as she struggled to process what was happening.

Stiles suddenly seemed to realize something. He bent down, peering out the window. Scott followed his gaze, his expression shifting as he noticed what Stiles had left behind.

Scott turned to him, pleading. "No."

"Yes." Stiles was already moving.

Hazel barely registered what they were talking about before Stiles opened the door, slipping outside before closing it as quietly as possible.

Hazel and Scott swore under their breath.

"What is he doing!?" Hazel whispered harshly.

Scott didn't answer—his eyes were locked on Stiles, panic creeping into his expression.

"Come back. Come back!" Scott suddenly banged on the window. "Stiles!"

Then—the Alpha.

Hazel felt her stomach drop.

Stiles threw himself back inside, slamming the doors shut behind him. A loud click echoed as he jammed a pair of pliers into the handles, locking them in place.

They turned toward the window, hearts pounding. But the Alpha was gone.

"Where is it?" Stiles asked, his voice laced with unease.

He grabbed a lamp, flicking it on to illuminate the hallway. But there was nothing.

Hazel's fingers curled into fists. The idea of the Alpha finding another way in was enough to send shivers down her spine.

"Where'd it go?" She whispered.

They backed away from the door, breathless.

"That won't hold, will it?"

"Probably not." Hazel and Stiles answered in unison.

Silence pressed in around them, thick and suffocating. Then—

A howl.

The three of them exchanged a look of pure terror before bolting toward the nearest classroom.

"The desk!" Stiles pointed, and they moved toward it, about to shove it against the door—until Stiles suddenly stopped them.

"Stop! Stop! The door's not gonna keep it out." He said.

Scott looked at him, equally as panicked. "I know."

"It's your boss."

Hazel's head snapped up, her brows furrowing. "What?"
