•chapter 1• -A New Family-

"Ma, I can't eat all of this."
"Oh hush, you'll eat this food I made for your special day" Sheri, my mother loved to cook, there isn't a time when she isn't cooking, today she has an excuse to cook up at storm and it's my seaside summer feast.
"Im not going to be gone forever, mama." I said wrapping around the woman who had done everything for one as I grew up. My father decided I wasn't what he wanted, so he pissed off into another state and had a whole new life/family and my mother and I were the forgotten ones.
We werent the richest of people, we struggled quite a bit. I'd sometimes wake up to my mother bawling her eyes at the sight of our fridge or the overdue bills on our table. I had to get a few extra jobs as a teenager (babysitting/waitressing) just to help my mom who was very nervous and scared of what might happen if we didn't get any money.
My mother and I are the best of friends. I think all the cooking she is does is her apology for my upbringing.
But, I loved my upbringing, I'm very grateful I have her in my life.
"You need to eat, my darling. And take some of this food for your new friends." Ma said taking containers of food and filling them with all the food she had prepared.
"Mom, I'm not going to school camp. This isn't high school." I said finishing the food on my plate and helped wash up the dirty dishes before I began to head off towards this exciting new adventure.
"I just don't want you dying of starvation."
I laughed as I hugged her. "I'm going to be fine. This is an exciting new experience for me."
"I know it is, I'm just going to miss you but i know you'll have so much fun and just be safe and call as much as you can." Ma said wiping a few tears.
"I'm gonna go before I start bawling my eyes out." I said checking my room to make sure I had everything. I carried the food mom made me take for everyone.
I climbed into my car, that was packed with my stuff that I would need over the summer. I beeped my horn as I backed out of the driveway.
"I love you!" I blew her a kiss before driving off down the road towards an unbelievably opportunity.
I was going to be staying in a share house with a group of new people, we would have to work to stay in the house but who could turn down such an great summer experience.
