"Uuwi na ba tayo?"From looking down on the dusty floor, Leo's amber eyes snapped over to me. He flashed a smile as he shook his head in response. I just couldn't help but adore that smile.
"Gusto mo na bang umuwi?" he added.
Even when I'm sitting on the table in front of him, his eyes are still almost leveling mine. Well, with his above six foot frame, I won't be surprised anymore.
He leaned forward as he let his arms rest on his knees, claiming a little distance between us.
"Just tell me if you want to go home."
"Parang gusto ko na ngang tumira dito."
Tumawa siya at umiling. "At ano? Magiging friends kayo ng multo rito."
"Ewan ko sa'yo, Leondraus!" I rolled my eyes at him.
I never thought about actually having a moment like this with him. I used to think that this is way out of touch. I didn't even expect us to be this close. 'Yong tipong magkaharap kami, nagtatawanan, magbibiruan. It didn't last but I can still feel the gentleness of his hand on mine.
I'm shocked to see how serious that casual admiration has become.
Oh wait.
"Leo... may itatanong pala ako." I trailed off.
I took a deep breathe and decided to ask him straight.
"Don't you think Celest might get mad? I... I mean... kapag nalaman niyang magkasama tayo."
I glared at him.
"Saan mo narinig 'yan?" he asked curiously, but I sensed a hint of mockery.
Is he indirectly confirming that they're not in a relationship? Oh...
"I don't have a girlfriend, Soraya. Celest is a close friend. I already told you.
There was a long pause after that exchange. I tried to speak, but I was unable to do so because of how dry my throat seemed to be. I pretended to notice the books while I gazed around the room instead kahit pa halos makabisado ko na 'yon sa kakatingin.
