ADRIAN

When she moved back to Boston, I thought it was for good. I didn't think she'd ever show her face again after what she did and all the things she said to me.

I still remember her harsh words. And the way she looked at me. Her eyes were cold and hard. I will never forget it, and I will never forgive her.

I hate her. I really hate her.

If only that was true.

Even after spending an entire year without her, I still couldn't forget about the night we spent together.

And to make things even worse, Meghan decided to show up and be part of the family again.

Fucking bitch....

The next day, I woke up and rushed out of the house without saying a word to anyone. Dad expected me to drop her off at the college, but there was no way in hell I would do that. She could hitchhike for all I care.

Most of my friends decided to stay in Miami, so I expected to see them in some of my classes. I was looking forward to all the parties. Hopefully, it will help me avoid seeing Meghan for the first few months. I just hated the fact that I'd have to see her face everyday when I wake up. Maybe I'll start slee over at Luke's house more.

"Yo! I saved you a seat!"

I smirked as I saw Luke flailing his arms high up in the air, trying to get my attention. I had literature class to start the day and I was relieved to see my best friend there. College life was off to a great start!

"What's up, douchebag?" I said as I plopped down next to him.

"Are you ready for the party tonight?" Luke smirked.
I furrowed my brows. "What party?" The first semester house started and he was already having a party.

"Tiffany's. Your girlfriend. Remember her?" Luke let out a chuckle and slapped my back.

"Tiffany isn't my girlfriend," I snapped.

"That's not what she had been telling everyone!"

I groaned. After Meghan left, Tiffany and I had a fling after graduation. She comforted me because I was down in the dumps. Of course, I didn't tell her or anyone about my being in love with my stepsister, but I couldn't hide my sadness either.

I needed someone, and Tiffany was there. It was never supposed to turn into something serious, but Tiffany didn't feel the same way. I tried to cut her loose, but she kept calling and texting me.

"You are kidding, right? Has she been telling people we are dating?" I said irritably.

"Yeah, dude. Maybe you should talk to her about it," Luke suggested.

I'm gonna have to.

"Oh, guess who else I ran into at the administrator's office?" Luke suddenly sounded excited.

"Who?"

"Your stepsister. What was her name again? Maddie?"

"Meghan, I call her Maggie," I said and looked away.
"Yeah, Maggie. She has gotten even hotter this past year," Luke winked.

I held myself back from snapping at him. I didn't like Luke looking at her that way, but I couldn't let him know that. I needed to make sure people knew I didn't give a shit about her.

"What about her?" I asked instead.

"Well, I said hello and she showed me her schedule, and guess what? She is in this class too!" Luke exclaimed.

Oh, fucking hell. So much for avoiding her all semester.

"Don't associate with her too much. She is not what you think," I said bitterly.

"What do you mean?" Luke eyeballed me curiously.

"I heard that she gets around. She sleeps with anyone and everyone and then ditches them," I lied.

To be honest, I never bothered to check on what kind of life she led back in Boston. I didn't even want to hear her name at home, but she acted like she was throwing me away for some hotshot boyfriend there. Maybe I was right after all, and she was a total slut.

"Sounds like my kinda girl." Luke chuckled.

I felt a twinge of guilt for making up things about her like this, but it disappeared as I saw her walking in.
Fuck her.

"Adrian!" Meghan chirped, then strode toward me. Guess she didn't take the hint last night. "Is this seat taken?" she asked and pointed at the seat in front of me.

I cleared my throat. "Yep, sorry. You should probably go sit somewhere else. That desk at the back of the room looks good."

Her smile disappeared. "I thought college didn't have assigned seats."

"What are you talking about? It's not..." Luke started but stopped talking as I glared at him. "Eh...who are you saving the seat for?"

I knew I had to come up with someone to use as an excuse so I looked around the room for another person we knew. Tiffany came through the door to the classroom, looking around to see who she'd landed with in first session.

Perfect...

Catching her eyes, I lifted a hand to let her know I was interested in her since she was definitely the lesser of the two evils between her and Meghan.

Tiffany wasn't girlfriend material as far as I was concerned -I liked her as a friend and she was a fun girl to hang with sure, but I didn't want to be tied down to her. I did want to get rid of Meghan though and Tiff was a great way to make that happen. She'd always been the jealous type.

"I'm saving it for my girlfriend. Tiffany."

Luke started to chuckle but stopped as I glared at him, warning him to shut up. He wasn't the smartest tool in the shed but he read my signal loud and clearly.

The expression Tiffany had on her face was not welcoming. I could tell she wanted to say something bitchy to Meghan until she caught what I said. Her whole face lit up as she beamed at me before straightening her shoulders then tossing her hair back with a flick of her hand.

"We always sit together," Tiffany said, "If you had a boyfriend, you'd understand."

I smirked, satisfied with Tiffaney's snarky comment. I could count on Tiffany to keep Meghan away.

Tiffany parked herself in the seat Meghan had tried to take and Meghan's face made everything worth it since she looked as if I'd slapped her.

She would have deserved it if I had, too. Who did she think she was just coming back into my life after all the shit she said to me? Meghan might act innocent, but I knew it was a fakeout. Underneath all the sweetness was a bitter bitch who liked to hurt others.

"Hey, why don't you come to my party tonight? You might meet a guy yourself." Tiffany suddenly offered. I scrunched up my nose. So much for keeping Meghan away from me.

Our professor came in to start setting up at the podium, calling out, "Take your seats, everyone! We have a lot to cover."

A chorus of groans came from the class. It figured we'd get stuck with a no-nonsense professor for first session.

I turned to Tiffany. "Meghan isn't much of a party girl."

"N...no, I would love to come to the party. I've been gone for a while so I want to get to know more people," Meghan interjected.

"Ride with Adrian! I'll expect you to show so I can introduce you around."

"Yeah, it would a lot of fun and I'd have someone to talk to." Luke smirked.

Tiffany waved her fingers at Meghan to signal she was done with the conversation just as the professor started to write his name on the board for his own introduction.

This was going to be a really long semester.
