The orange lifeboat wasn't all that roomy, it was about the size of a master bedroom. It was equipped with a plastic covering and survival supplies: flare gun, food, blankets, life jackets, instruction manual and a tool kit. There were four long, padded benches across the walls. At first everyone just stood with their hearts beating because they were too nervous to sit. A few minutes went by, as everyone was adjusting to the circumstances, a small girl called out, "Does anybody know how to work this thing?". A quick response came, " I know how to run a fishing boat, maybe it's the same as a lifeboat," said a girl named Olivia (you could tell because her name was printed on the back of her hoodie) about the same age as Aliya. Olivia turned the key and surprisingly started the engine. Not knowing where to go all the girls looked around, they could see the sinking cruise ship in the distance, but no lifeboats were to be seen. " We must've drifted off in the wrong direction, try and take us towards the ship, maybe there are other lifeboats there with adults" said Aliya. Olivia put her hand on the gas, it sputtered and died. They were stuck in a very sticky situation. Suddenly cries arouse from a small girl with blonde wispy hair. "Hey, has anyone seen my sister, I need to find her. She looks just like me, we're twins. My name is Fiona and my sister is Annabelle," she said. "Hiccup... hiccup," came from underneath a bench. Fiona ducked down to see, it was just her luck, it was Annabelle hiding there. As Aliya noticed she was one of the oldest girls there, she decided to take matters into her hands.
"Honk, honk, honk," Aliya honked the steering wheel horn and stood up on the bench, she was just tall enough not to hit her head on the covering. "Everyone, listen up and gather around. I'm Aliya, I've noticed that we're stuck in the middle of the ocean," she said in a rather rude way. "We need to head northwest until we hit Puerto Rico, from there we can find help. So...does anyone know where the paddles and compass are?" "They're right under the cushions and the compass is in the tool kit. Don't you think we need to see who is on the boat and what supplies we have?", said Olivia. "Good idea, so we'll have Olivia and...who else wants to row?" Aliya asked. "I'm Nadia, I can help with the rowing if you want," she said shyly, but she looked strong enough to do the job." " okay they will do the rowing and I'll take everyone's name and age on a list. How about we have Fiona, Annabelle, and one other do the supplies." "I can heelp with that, I'm Scarlett" said a girl with a southern accent and freckles. "Sure the girl with the freckles can do that," said Aliya in a friendly way.
