The girls were happy to have jobs, mostly to take their minds off being separated from their families. Aliya took the names and ages: Aliya/14, Scarlett/13, Olivia/14, Nadia/12, SophiaMaria/13, Fiona/9, Annabelle/9, Taylor/13, and Rebecca/8. Once she did so, she realized how could she possibly do this, it was hard to be around her eight year old sister for more than an hour. Quickly she snapped out of it knowing she'd start worrying for her sister even though nothing could be done. "Okay, we got enough food for y'all for 'bout a week," Scarlett announced. "Either we find land soon or somebody best be knowin' how to fish". "Honk, honk, honk," once again, Aliya pushed the horn three times calling everyone's attention. "Hey! We need someone to keep everyone organized and to give orders because obviously someone has to divide the work evenly and keep us alive. First off who wants to be in the running for captain?" Two had their hand raised, it was between Aliya and Olivia. Automatically there was tension between girls. Olivia cracked her knuckles as if she was going into battle, "let's take a vote then. Who votes for me?" Annabelle, Fiona, and SophiaMaria raised their hands in vote for Olivia, although they weren't entirely sure what was going on. "And me?" Aliya said while Scarlett, Nadia, and Taylor raised their hands raised their hands. "Hmm...seems we have a tie, yet nobody's left to break it. I mean, I guess if we absolutely have to, we could co-captain this boat together," said Aliya. After a few moments a slightly rude response came from Olivia, "Ummm...okay then."
All Aliya could think about was her family worried sick about her, which gave her a hollow feeling inside. A slow standing drop ran down her cheek and onto her lips, but she brushed it away quickly, remembering she was co-captain and needed to be strong. "Are they even alive? Do they think I'm dead? I must be rescued...and find them. I must survive." Aliya's thoughts coursed through her head, but of course interrupted by three honks and Olivia's voice. "Anyone know how to fish?" No response came, "Well then, we'll have to figure out something because nobody's gonna starve....or eat this weird canned food. So since I've watched my dad on his fishing boat many times, I'll be the one fishing and organizing it," said Olivia. Aliya chimed in "More importantly, we need the twins and Nadia rowing at all times and they'll take shifts with Taylor, Rebecca, and SophiaMaria." Olivia snapped back at her "No! I need them to help build the fishing line and hook, not to mention the fishing itself." That really wound Aliya up, "We need to keep rowing at all times if we want to find land or help. Fishing isn't a priority, besides the only fish I eat is caviar." Aliya said in a demeaning way. "Well then, who wants real food and who wants to do hard work all day?" Olivia asked the girls as they gathered around the arguing, watching it like it was a movie. "I for one don't want to work all day, we could just drift on the water instead of row. I vote for fishing, no offense Aliya," Annabelle said. The rest of the girls raised their hands in agreement with Annabelle, everyone except Scarlett. Goofy Scarlett knew which way was more import even if it wasn't the easiest choice.
