The bells dinged as the door opened, showing a crack of the inky sky before silence swept over the lobby once more, with only the young girl's skipping footsteps to put to ear. As she kept walking down the old carpeted hallway, slightly muffled speaking began to unravel into the air. Soon, she'd reached the large wooden desk that stood at the end of the hall. It was the same as when she'd left that morning. The papers were still near the computer, the capped pen was still resting on the top, and the kind secretary still sat behind the counter in her soft black chair. Her foggy glasses were still perched on her eyes, and her curly brown hair was still up in its tight bun. Her beckoning smile was still plastered on her face, as she looked down to face the girl.

"Ah, Y/N. I was starting to get nervous from the darkness of the night. How's your day been?" She asked.

"Not bad! I scored an apple from the market!" She exclaimed with a grin.

While Y/N stood with pride, Ms. Trish, the secretary, looked quite the opposite.

"Y/N, You know we serve you food here! Shame on you!" She scorned.

Y/N only giggled at this. "Yeah, but it's so much more fun when you have to sneak around to get it!"

Ms. Trish sighed and laid back in her chair. "Go to bed Y/N."

Y/N turned right of the desk into a new hallway, with stained red carpet and peeling walls. She made it to the end and started to walk up the fleet of spiral stairs. She soon made it to the top and went to look for room E-8 - her and 5 other orphan's rooms.

Found as a baby 9 years ago in an alleyway, Y/N was taken into the town's orphanage. The town, Conceoule, was a small village up in the mountains with a population of around 10,000. While not known by many, Conceoule specializes in thievery, and profits from the countless assassins, criminals, and hunters that pass through the town, usually looking for information.

Nonetheless, Y/N was a very strange child. While all the other orphans preferred staying in their bed the whole day and reading, she would leave every morning and not return till near midnight, playing and hunting in the forests and splashing in the ponds. Fun of course, but also lonely. Y/N had no friends to get along with. While she crept and snuck through the shadows of the marketplace, hoping to form some sort of challenge or game, the orphans, and even the workers, would look down on her energized curiosity.

Finally making it to E-8, she put her hand on the silver knob and lightly twisted it, not wanting to wake any of her sleeping roommates up. She tiptoed to the left corner of the room and slipped into bed. While she'd been playing in the forest trees all day, then running from the vendor whose apple she stole, Y/N was still full of energy.

As she lay in bed and looked out the window on the wall to her left, a noise suddenly came from the other end. A woman's voice, screaming

"HELP! SOMEONE HELP ME!"

Y/N sprang up in her bed and looked around the room. How did no one in the orphanage hear this?! She pondered what to do for a moment, before reaching into the right pocket of her orphanage uniform and pulling out a small blade. She had stolen this from the marketplace about a month ago. The man selling it was blabbering out to the crowd about how special it was. In the simple shape of a small dagger, the knife was a type of 'Ben Knife': specialized knives made by serial killer Benny Delon, who had apparently originated from Conceoule. The dagger in particular was said to have sulfuric acid aligned on the perimeter of the outer blade as it was made by Benny Delon to murder an engineer who refused to trade parts with him for his blacksmithing. Y/N of course had no idea what any of this meant, but its sheath was red and had purple designs all over it! It was so pretty and exotic, she knew she had to have it!
