Seeing Elizabeth walk into the house with flower tucked into her auburn hair made Chris a little curious. The boy flew from where he was standing, approaching Elizabeth.

"Hey, Lizzy," Chris greeted.

"Oh hi, Chris," Elizabeht greeted back cheerfully—the girl was clearly in a happy mood.

Chris landed in front of Elizabeth. "Where did you get the flower from?"

Suddenly Elizabeth touched the side of her head. "This flower? From Charlotte!" she answered excitedly.

Chris' eyebrows shot up. "Really? What did she tell you?"

"She said 'I like you'!"

The twinkle in Chris' blue eyes gleamed with interest. "Then? Then what did you say?" he asked impatiently.

Elizabeth's smile was wide. "I said 'I like you too' ..."

Chris felt some hope.

"... 'You're a good friend', like that!"

Forget it.
