"Goldenperch? Frogfern? Sunrise? Thunderstorm? What are you doing here?" Ebonywind asked her old Clanmates worriedly.
"Luckystar had a very important vision after you left," Frogfern said in a rush.
"And she wants every cat-" Sunrise added.
"To meet at the Gathering Hollow in two sunrises time-" Thunderstorm continued.
"For all of us to discuss it." Goldenperch mewed firmly. "And she's not taking no as an answer."
"I'll go," Rowanstar sniffed, puffing out his chest fur.
Yes! Ebonywind let out a joyed purr.
In two sunrises time, Ebonywind followed ShadowClan as they trekked to the Gathering Hollow. Scents of ThunderClan, RiverClan and WindClan rushed into her nose; they must already be there.
"You're here, Rowanstar!" Luckystar purred. "I thought you'd never come."
Ebonywind saw through Luckystar's act at once. Her mother was acting calm but inside, she was extremely worried.
"Well, what is it?" Acornstar asked impatiently.
"I'm sorry, Luckystar. But we have a warrior ceremony to perform once we go back to camp. I know Blackpaw and Lightpaw are extremely excited." Palefeather, the new WindClan deputy, chimed in.
"I apologize for calling you all here, but I had a vision," Luckystar called to all the cats.
"What vision?" Hailstar looked interested.
"I saw Amberclaw, Ebonywind and Ravenflight together," Luckystar mewed.
"What were they doing?" Acornstar questioned, drawn in.
"They were going down a mountain, towards a ravine," Luckystar explained. "Then, a voice spoke to me. It was Firestar's voice."
"And what did he say?" Rowanstar snarled.
Luckystar focused her gaze on Ebonywind, Ravenflight and Amberclaw. "He gave me a prophecy. He told me that 'Three shall find their paws in a ravine that is unsteady with sharp cracks. The mysterious mountain cats will need your help against the darkness that threatens to wipe them out."
Three shall find their paws. That's me, Amberclaw and Ravenflight.
"What do you suggest we do, then?" Hailstar meowed, his tone serious.
"I suggest we send them to find the mountain cats." Acornstar raked her gaze over them. "They're warriors. They'll survive."
Ravenflight let out a little hiss at her sharpness.
"I won't let my kits go by themselves to find the mountain cats!" Luckystar cried, her pain showing.
"They are warriors," Rowanstar growled.
"They are my kits!" Luckystar shot.
"Anyway," Hailstar hastily changed the subject. "So, they just go and find the Tribe?"
"I guess," Acornstar nodded.
"I want some warriors to go with them," Luckystar's voice trembled, her blue eyes flashing.
Rowanstar snorted, almost falling off his tree. "They are warriors!"
"I think Luckystar's right," Acornstar mewed. "This will be a dangerous mission."
"Hailstar?" Rowanstar prompted. "They are warriors, they don't need an escort!"
"I agree with Luckystar." Hailstar met Rowanstar's amber eyes.
"Fine. I guess I'm outvoted," Rowanstar got to his paws. "You can keep Ebonywind, Luckystar. ShadowClan, let's go!"
The dark ginger tom stalked away, his Clan following him apologetically.
"I guess we have to find the Tribe, then," Ebonywind murmured to her sisters.
"Yeah," Amberclaw whispered back. "I've only ever heard of them in the stories the elders tell. I've never seen a Tribe cat."
"Of course, you haven't, mouse-brain," Ravenflight mewed affectionately.
"Ebonywind, Ravenflight, Amberclaw," Luckystar addressed them. "Hailstar, Acornstar and I have decided we will send one of our warriors each to go with you. We would send a medicine cat, but Ravenflight, you are one already, yet you are also a warrior."
"That's right," Acornstar dipped her head. "From WindClan, I am sending Blackpaw."
"Me?" a black tom from the crowd looked extremely surprised. "But I'm an apprentice!"
"Not for long," Acornstar jumped down from her tree and touched her tail to Blackpaw's head. "Where's Lightpaw?"
"I'm here," a white she-cat padded up to them.
"StarClan honors both your bravery and loyalty and I am proud to give you your warrior names. Do you promise to serve your Clan above all else?" Acornstar asked solemnly.
"I do," Blackpaw mewed, there was no mistaking the urgency and pride in it.
"I do," Lightpaw purred. Anyone could tell she wanted this and had worked for this.
"Then I name you Blackshine and Lightshadow," Acornstar licked their heads before taking a step back.
"From RiverClan, I will be sending Rustfern. He is young and spry. I trust that he will come back successfully." Hailstar announced.
A dark ginger tom dutifully padded out of the throng of RiverClan cats. His green eyes flashed with eagerness as he stood next to Blackshine, Ebonywind, Amberclaw and Ravenflight.
"And from ThunderClan, I am sending Thunderstorm. Thunderstorm, you have proven yourself to be loyal to your Clan. Now, I need you to be loyal to my kits. They are your mate, Lightningstrike's, sisters, and I hope you will treat them with respect and love." Luckystar decided.
"I will do my best, Luckystar." Thunderstorm vowed. "Goodbye, Lightningstrike."
All around the clearing, the selected cats were saying goodbye to their loved ones. Ebonywind decided she would do the same.
"Goodbye, mother. I'll see you soon." She dipped her head to the golden-brown she-cat. As she turned around to begin her mission, she could've sworn she heard her mother say something back.
"I wish the vision hadn't told me about your destiny. Goodbye, Ebonywind. You will come back changed; I know it."
