Aria sits on the couch watching her baby brother play with Sebastian on the floor. Joseph is sitting in his rocker and giggling at the very old cat Sebastian. All he's doing is sitting there, looking at the two small children. I sit on the other end of the couch watching Dr. Phil. "Daddy?", Aria asks. I look over at her. "What is Vidcon? It sounds like a toy". I laugh lightly.
"Vidcon is a place where people can meet Youtubers. A "Youtuber" is what daddy is. Daddy makes videos and lots and lots of people watch him and think he's funny. Or maybe they watch him because they think he's cute. I don't really know", I reply. She pulls her knees up to her chest and hugs them.
"I think daddy is funny. But he doesn't really tell me jokes. Does he tell jokes to those other people?", she asks. I shrug my shoulders. In all honestly, I haven't seen one of Connor's videos in a decent amount of time. I don't really have the time to. "I miss daddy. Don't you?". I nod my head and motion for her to come over to me. She hops of the couch and comes over to me, then sits down beside me.
I wrap my arm around and she cuddles into me. "Daddy'll be home soon sweetie. He's just.. busy. Making other people happy and "saving lives", I say. I know my little girl doesn't understand my tone. Connor isn't superman and he should stop trying to be.
"My daddy is a hero", Aria giggles. I nod half heartedly. I don't believe that he's a hero at all. I think he wants to be. But I'm sorry to say, super heros don't exist and they never will. Those dragon slayers in the fairytales aren't real. No one can save anyone. I just wish Connor would open his eyes and realize that. I check the time and see it's pretty late.
"Bed time", I say. Aria stands up and lifts her arms up to me. "Sorry sweetie, I have to carry Joseph up". She nods and starts walking off, going up to her room. I pick up Joseph gently and follow Aria upstairs. I walk into my room and lay Joseph in the crib that we keep in there. I lean down and kiss his head and he giggles. "Sweet dreams".
I walk out of the room and go into Aria's room and see her sitting on her bed, holding her cinderella doll. I go to her dresser and pick out her favorite pajamas. They have little monkeys on them. I put them beside her and she looks up at me with tears in her eyes. "Oh sweetie, what's wrong?", I ask, sitting beside her.
"I want my daddy home", she cries. I hug her tightly and she finally stops crying.
"Go put your pajamas on and brush your teeth, then I'll read you a story, ok?", I ask. She nods her head and takes her clothes and goes into the bathroom. I go to her bookshelf and pick a book. She comes back in soon after. "Did you brush your teeth?". She nods her head and climbs onto her bed and pulls the cover on her. I tuck her in and kiss her head.
"Daddy, I don't think I wanna hear a story tonight, I don't really too good. I feel pretty sick", She says. I look at her with concern but nod my head anyway. I put a hand on her head and she feels cool. "Goodnight daddy, love you to the moon and back".
"I love you more than that. Sweet dreams", I reply. I lean back down and kiss her cheek one last time, then walk out of the room. I close her door quietly then go into mine. I look in Joseph's crib and see that he's sleeping softly.
I change into my sleep clothes and brush my teeth. I send Connor a quick goodnight text and then go to bed.
