▬▬ CASSIE TOOK A BREATHas she shook out her hands, she had her eyes squeezed closed trying to calm her ever growing nerves. But it was no use, she was nervous and she wasn't sure there was anything that could change that. At least, not in this satiation.
"Sam and Emily are gonna be there and you have me."
"I know." She nodded. "But it's still nerve-wracking."
"I know, baby." He offered his hand and she smiled as she slid her hand into his. He brought her hand up and lightly kissed her knuckles.
"I love you." It was a mere sigh and his face split into a wide grin before he leaned forward and placed a kiss to her lips. It was meant to be quick, but the two often got lost in each other. She pulled back and took a breath, keeping her hand on his chest to keep him from leaning in again. "We have to get out of the truck at some point." She told him, her lips pulling into a smile.
"You're right." He sighed. "Let's go."
"Okay." She nodded and he leaned forward, kissing her cheek before he slipped out of the truck and ran around to get her crutches from the bed, then he made his way to her side of the truck where she sat with her legs hanging out the door as she waited. He leaned the crutches against the truck and reached for Cassie, she wrapped her arms around his neck and let him put her on the ground before giving her the crutches.
"All set?"
"Can you grab my bag?" She pointed at the gray backpack and he reached into the truck to get it. He slipped his arm into the strap then shut the door.
"How about now?"
"Yep." She nodded, taking another breath as they started towards the house. It was small and tucked into the woods, almost like it was hiding. She took another steadying breath at the sight of Emily's car, she wasn't doing this alone and that made her feel better. She was still nervous but it wasn't completely terrifying.
