Chapter 3: Awake

Sitting up in bed, a teenage girl with long black hair and brown eyes stretches up, not really knowing why today felt different. Looking around her small room, she realized that there were things there that she didn't remember putting there.

On her desk was something that looked like a miniature toy computer. A matching screen was mounted on her wall by her door as well as a light bulb on the wall. Scratching her head in confusion, she also noticed a weird watch that she'd never seen before, but felt familiar. "Okay... even more confused."

"Your fault."

Startled, the girl looked up at the voice beside her and started to panic, "Midoriko!" She got down on the floor and bowed, "Milady. I don't understand. How are you here?"

"I am here as you guide into this new world."

"New world?" The girl sat up, "I don't understand. I've only been home for three days. What happened?"

"You happened."

"Me."

"Have a seat." The beautiful woman gestured to the bed and took a seat for herself, "I have been tasked to be your guide. They were originally going to have Kikyo do it."

"Oh, uh-uh."

"That's what we thought." She stayed quiet for a moment, "When you wished for the jewel to disappear, it did. Sending everyone back to where they belong; Feudal Japan or you here in the present. However, what wasn't expected was that the jewel wouldn't just disappear, it exploded straight for the Galaxy Cauldron."

"What's the Galaxy Cauldron?"

"The Galaxy Cauldron is the most powerful star in the universe. It is responsible for the cycle of life and death of all things. It is located at the center of the Milky Way galaxy, at the core of Sagittarius Zero Star."

"So, since it's responsible for the death of all things, that includes the jewel."

"That's correct. A jewel that powerful can't just disappear. It goes straight back into the Galaxy Cauldron to be reborn."

"In another priestess."

"Yes. However, when your wish was made, the jewel stayed in Limbo."

"Limbo? But, everything went back to normal. I can't go back."

"That is correct. But they came forward. You see, another girl, in another timeline, wish for the rebirth of Earth and all the planets in the Solar System."

"What kind of rebirth?"

"The other girl's timeline was destroyed by Chaos. And before you ask, Chaos is an dark being who lurks in the center of the galaxy, Sagittarius Zero Star."

"The same place as the Galaxy Cauldron."

"Correct. Now, in that timeline, Chaos destroyed everything. And, I mean, everything. A very powerful woman, with another powerful crystal inside of her, was able to contain Chaos. Contain, because you can't destroy it. She had made a wish afterwards to bring back everything that was destroyed by Chaos. Unfortunately, unknown to her, Chaos had been behind the scenes of a lot of the battles the girl had fought over the last 1,000 years or so. So, the Guardian of Cauldron told her that she could recreate the timeline that she was already in, but make a new one. This new one would splinter off from a tragic event that took place on the moon and severed lives and soul mates."

"That's intense."

"There's more. The Guardian her a choice. She can Star Seed back into the Cauldron to be reborn and start life over from scratch. With no memories of her past, ever. Or, she could be part of the reborn here in this timeline and retain all memories. Good and the bad. But she will know that the life that she had would no longer exist. Her husband and friends would have new lives and not her. Her child would never be born."
