A couple of days had passed since Brad came over and it was time to update Courteney... minus the sex thing. We are currently out back, doing yoga on the decking. Cocos in her bouncer just a few feet from us, holding a frozen yogurt ice lolly, munching away at it.
"And then he left. There was nothing much to it, Courteney."
"Really? So nothing happened?"
"Mhm." I nod, stretching out.
"He didn't hang around? Get high together? Have sex?"
I keep quiet and her eyes widen. "No... we didn't do any of that." I finally say to cover up.
"You so did. Have you changed your bedsheets yet?"
Truth be told, I haven't even been in the room since that night. The past few nights I had fallen asleep on the couch, in the hopes that maybe... well maybe he'd show up again.
"No because we didn't have sex."
She looks over at Coco, then over at the door, making her escape and running inside the house. I grunt, hurriedly getting Coco and running after her, all while being covered in yogurt from the kids sticky hands all over me.
"He was here!" She gasped, going over to my bedside table. "You never smoke inside. And there's two cigarettes."
"We only had one the second was mine-"
"Ah ha!"
"Shit!"
"So you did? You slept together?! Oh, my god! Jen, are you insane?! Do you not remember what he's done to you?!"
"He's my husband, Court."
"Near enough ex. This isn't healthy... Jen, he's with her."
"Maybe not, maybe he ended it..."
"Don't act like that... you're a smart enough woman to know not to do this to yourself."
"But I-" I cut myself off when the tears beging pouring from my eyes, I put Coco on the bed and she lays there distracted by herself.
Courteney grabs my arm, forcing me to walk closer and pulling me straight into her arms, holding me tightly.
"You love him. And if I'm being honest he was one of the best things that happened to you... but now he's the worst. This guy gave you up, he gave up on you for another woman."
"And I know that! But we have a history." I pull back, wiping the tears from my face. "I miss him."
"I know you do," she smiles softly, tucking a piece of hair behind my ear. "I know. He doesn't deserve you. Not one bit."
I sighed, leaning in and hugging her again. "I have no idea what to do. I want to be with him so badly... but I also want to throw the ring off his head and walk away."
She chuckled a little, taking my hand and sitting on the edge of the bed with me. "I really can't tell you what to do, but if I were you... talk to him again, clear that up and get the divorce."
"Yeah... maybe that's what's best. I think you're right."
"I'm always right." She smirks, kissing my cheek and getting up. "I better go, see you tomorrow morning?"
"Sure thing." I smile softly, walking them both out and waving them off as they drive away. I make my way back inside, going out back again and cleaning up the yoga mats, then cleaning up dripped yogurt from the wooden floor. When bringing the two mats back inside, both under my arm, the doorbell rings. I throw them down on the couch and run quickly to the door. "Court... did you forget anything?" I shout, grabbing the door handle and opening it. "Oh... um..."
