"Hey, Sully! Wait!" when I heard that name and that sweet, beautiful voice, my pace was even faster than before. I was already late for my piano class again, and if I lost it once again, my mom would make me stop playing drums, which meant I would have to postpone my wish to get out of this place even more.

"Can't talk right now, gotta go!" I tried to escape him by moving around the students in front of the school, but he managed to reach me somehow.

"Hey, c'mon, don't run from me!" he stopped in front of me, and I had no choice but to look at his very handsome face again. Just by facing him, I felt my cheeks reddening. He had that effect on me.

"I'm not running. I'm just late for... well, I don't owe you any explanations. You've made your decision, so..." I turned my face to the other side and moved away from him, but he held my arm.

"You're a hell of a drummer, girl... I guess you got it from your dad, right?" yeah, he said the magical words which made me stay: hell of a drummer and dad.

Wait... how did he know who I was?

"Yes, I know you..." he realized how mistrustful my features were. "My uncle is... well, was one of your dad's friends back when they were touring. He told me a lot of crazy stories about them, but... you probably already know them all."

"Oh... no, actually, my mom avoids stories from that time. I guess she doesn't want me to find out how much dope she snorted back then..." I laughed ironically, and he smiled charmingly. Damn it, he's got my full attention.

"Umm, I see, parents, right?"

"Yeah..." when I noticed, we were walking around the neighborhood together, away from the school already. "You know my name and everything, but I still don't know yours."

"I'm Sam... nice to finally talk to you properly, by the way. Yesterday I had to play a bad judge on you. Sorry about that."

"Oh, so you are not really an asshole all the time? You were just playing a role?" I still didn't trust him, of course. But he sounded truthful so far.

"Yep, especially when I'm around my band, I have to... be like that. I'm the bass player. If I don't make myself noticed, I will soon be forgotten or traded for my bandmates, Jake or Josh. They are twins; guitar player and singer, so... You know what I'm talking about, you're a drummer..." he sounded vulnerable, way different than yesterday.

"I've never been in a band, so... I'm actually new at this. How long have you guys been playing together?"

"We started Greta Van Fleet five years ago. And now our drummer wants to leave, but he can't choose anyone to fill his shoes. We've spent the whole day listening to great drummers like you, and... nothing pleased the guy... I think he doesn't wanna leave anymore. He's just messing with us..."
