Tying her shoe laces, Beca sat at the bottom of the stairs, waiting for Lucy to appear so they could leave. Checking her watch repeatedly, she grew more impatient and anxious as time went by.

Emily appeared from the kitchen, Lucy's purse in her hand as well as her own, and sat at the bottom of the stairs next to Beca. Beca didn't make an effort to try and hide her nerves but as soon as Lucy hurried down the stairs, it was like she was the most confident person in the world.

"Are you ready?" Beca asked, hoping for her to say no so they could avoid leaving at all costs.

"Actually, I think I left my purse-" Lucy said, looking flustered and almost as pale as Beca did moments earlier.

"-I have it, let's go." Emily said, practically pushing them out of the door. "The quicker we leave, the quicker we find out and the panic will be over."

It was hard to disagree with her logic, she was pretty much always right and she definitely was in this case. Today was the day where Lucy went to receive the results of the scans she got a week ago, hopefully her final visit to hospital for a while. She finished up her last round of treatment three weeks beforehand and now it was time to see if it was all worth it.

Lucy went and sat in Beca's truck, with Emily and Beca standing at the doorway.

"You don't have to hide that you're nervous Beca, we all are." Emily said, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder.

"I know, I just don't want to get my hopes up." She locked the door and got into the truck, starting the engine and driving off to the hospital.

That uncomfortable feeling of the walls closing in came back to Beca, just like they did when she found out about her mom's cancer. Except this time, she knew what was coming and just had to brace herself for the impact.

The three of them sat in the waiting area, watching as the hands on the clock spun and waited for someone to tell them that it was time. After what seemed liked hours, Doctor Nelson arrived, his flirtatious smile being the first thing Beca wanted to punch when she saw him - it was safe to say she hadn't quite warmed up to him yet.

"Lucy, are you ready?" He asked, making sure his voice sounded gentle and as relaxing as possible. Lucy nodded and stood up, with Beca and Emily standing up to follow. He directed them to where they needed to be, closing the door of the room to make sure it was private enough for them.

Lucy sat on the bed while Emily and Beca rested against the wall, watching as he stood at the foot of the bed with charts, scans and medical forms in his hands. He pinned the scans to the board which showed the image. The three of them looked at it but they weren't exactly sure what they were looking at, it was like a blob of black and white to them.

Then he put another scan next to it, dated the day of the first appointment. There was a clear difference except they weren't ready to get their hopes up until it was made official by Doctor Nelson.

"These are your scans before treatment, this was your tumour." He pointed to part of the scan and then the girls understood what they were looking at. "I'm very glad to tell you that in your most recent scan, there is no tumour and all your test results are back to normal. Lucy Junk, you are officially cancer free."

Beca and Emily practically dove on top of her, embracing in a group hug while Lucy tried her best to hide her tears, her very happy tears.

"Thank you, doctor." Lucy said, with a smirk on her face as she spoke.

"Just doing my job Ms. Junk, but thank me later." His smirk was even more smug than Lucy's and it made Beca want the ground to swallow her whole.

"That's enough, you're probably busy so you should get going and do your job, Nelson." Beca said, holding the door open for him to leave the room, which he reluctantly did. Lucy just death stared her daughter and Beca just shrugged her shoulders, "What? The man ruined the moment and I went from being excited to wanting to vomit all of my insides out."
