One Night by Picture This

The rest of June went well or at least as well anyone could have hoped. She obviously missed Grindelwald and her friends John and Steven. Her parents were proud that she'd be a teacher like her mother, even if it wasn't being an English teacher. Her father was disappointed that Shannon didn't want to be an Auror, but he knew it'd be better if she followed her heart.

Shannon and her family didn't return to Germany over the summer. She wrote Steven and John some letters each weeks and sent basically daily letters to her boyfriend. She even wrote to her German friend Ursula quite a lot as well and they even exchanged polaroid photos of each other. Ursula had changed quite a lot since last summer. The last time Shannon saw her best friend in the whole world, Ursula, she was a little chubby and had really long golden blonde hair and blue eyes. Now she was stick thin and looked like a real adult.

Summer in England this year was pretty warm, but it still rained at least once every week. Shannon spent most of her time reading her DADA textbook and every other DADA book she could find at the local library to make sure she would be prepared for her interview with her old headmaster.

Shannon would spend most of the summer holidays in her room, just like last year, but when she would leave her room her mother would pester her over how up and coming interview with her Headmaster.

Pretend this conversation is in German

"Don't worry too much, Shannon. Dumbledore always has been an understanding man."

"Ok, mother."

"Do you think he'll want to see you in action before hiring you?"

"Maybe..."

"Do you think you have a good chance in getting the role? Do you have any competition?"

She sighed. "Hmm. I don't know, mother."

Her mother knew Shannon wasn't listening to her. "Shannon, did you know that Professor Dumbledore isn't human and he is in fact part bear? He is considered a half bear half man, Bearman Albus they call him." She joked.

"Totally..."

"Shannon, are you even listening to me?"

"Yep."

"Really? What did I just say?"

"Something about DADA."

"Wrong. Shannon, I know you're scared, but you'll do great. You wouldn't have passed your exams so well if you were stupid."

"But I need to make sure I know everything."

"I know. Maybe just take a deep breath or two and take a break from reading."

"No thanks."

When August 17th rolled round Shannon had read every type of book that covered at least a little bit of DADA ready for her interview. She had mountains of books around her bedroom that were stacked up in large piles. Shannon knew that she'd do ok at the exam, but she just wanted to be safe than sorry.

The interview was the very next day at 2:45pm. Shannon couldn't sleep the night before because she was 1) very scared and 2) exited to see not only Dumbledore again, but also Gellert. She had loads to tell him about what she'd been reading about over the summer and all she wanted to do was jump into his arms (even though she knew she couldn't as Dumbledore probably wouldn't allow her to visit him for too long after the interview).

She took a bus from the local bus station near her house and went to Kings Cross Train Station. The bus ride took a little longer than she hoped it would, but luckily Kings Cross wasn't too busy so she could get to Platform 9 & 3/4s pretty easily. Dumbledore, like last year when she went to look around Hogwarts with her family, was stood in-between the Platform 9 and 10 area. He was wearing a grey suit, trench coat and top hat much like he did last year. The only difference from last year was that his beard had gone a little greyer in colour.
