Sophie's heart did that fluttering thing and she smiled back. "How many times do I have to guys not to do that!" Said Keefe. " I will just assume that you guys were flirting OR talking about my incredible good looks."
"Your 'wonderful good looks'" Sophie said to Keefe, just as Fitz said, "Something like that." But they still looked everywhere except each other. They went inside to think of something else to do. Armed with a plate of mallowmelt for each person, they sat down in the Vacker's giant kitchen. A memory came to mind. She remembered Biana staring at her and not saying anything and Fitz yelling at her. It was like she was actually there. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath and was back with her friends.
Are you okay? Fitz thought with a worried face. No one else had noticed her reaction to the memory. Why would he? Wouldn't he have been doing the same thing as the others or was he watching her? I'm fine, Sophie transmitted. "I just remembered somethin I have to do," she said aloud. She really just wanted to think. "Okay, bye," said Biana. Sophie walked out of Evergreen and light leaped to Havenfield. She was greeted by Grady, who was covered in neon green feathers.
"Hi, Sophie," he said. "Did you have fun at Fitz's and Biana's house?"
"Yeah," said Sophie, with a smile and acting like nothing is wrong. "We played base quest and Biana and I beat the boys." Grady smiled and went outside to take care of some of the animals. Sophie went upstairs to her room and snuggled with Iggly. Thinking of that weird memory thing. She hadn't liked when that event had actually happened. Now she had to relive it again.
I am going to have to talk to Alden about this, Sophie thought. It's a little too weird for my liking. Though, I am weird. She frowned and pulled out a loose eyelash, her nervous habit. At that moment Edaline walked in with some crackleberry muffins.
"What's wrong, Sophie?" She asked. She knew Sophie did that when she was nervous or worried. "Nothing," Sophie answered. She definitley would ask Alden about this. Just not yet. It has only happened once. Just then her Imparts rang and Dex popped up on the screen. He smiled and she smiled back.
"Hey, Sophie!" He said. "Want to go for a walk? I haven't seen you in such a longtime." I had to laugh at that. We saw eachother yesterday. "Sure, Dex. Where do you want to meet?" Then came a knock oone door. Her Imparter flashed off and Dex was standing in her bedroom doorway.
"How about here?" He asked. " I guess here," she answered, laughing. They stood awkwardly for a little bit and finally started walking. She was so glad she didn't need Sandford anymore. Havenfield isn't big so they ended up going inside right away.
"Hey! Let's build a blanket fort!" said Dex. It was random but that was okay. They had nothing better to do. Sophie asked Edaline to conjure some blankets and pillows and soon they had a giant blanket fort. Dex added some lights and used his ability, Technopath, to make them change colors.
"Hey!"said Sophie. "I have an idea! Why don't we invite over Fitz, Biana and Keefe?" Oh, great. Wonderboy, Dex thought." Great! He said aloud. Sophie still knew what he was thinking, without reading his mind. "And maybe we xan invite Marella and Kenai, too!" Sophie added.
"Yeah, then it would be a party." Dex replied. They got out their Imparter and started calling. Soon, everyone was on the front porch armed with different treats.
"Let's get this party started," they yelled.
"Hey! What's happening?" Grady yelled.
" We are having a blanket fort party." Sophie yelled back. They went upstairs and stare in awe at the fort. Then, they started talking about what's been happening for the last couple of days since they've seen eachother.
"I played Base Quest with Fitz and Biana and Keefe,"said Sophie.
"I went over to Jensi's house," said Marella. Everyone except Jensi looked at her questionally. Everyone was quiet for a while. They weren't used to all hanging out outside of school.
"I think I am just going to leave," said Marella and glanced at Jensi.
"Um, me too!" Answered Jensi. They both leaped away. That was weird, thought Sophie. Oh, well. Everyone started talking, trying to fight out what they could do before everyone left.
"Guys, I just called your parents and you can sleepover!" Announced Edaline. She conjured all of their stiff into Sophie's room and then some snacks. They were still trying to think of what to do. "Ooh!" Biana squealed. " How about Truth or Dare?" It actually sounded fun to Sophie. Fitz and Keefe glanced at eachother and Dex sat there, unsure. They all agreed, because they had nothinf better to do.
"Whose first?" Asked Biana.
"I think I'll ask Foster truth or dare," said Keefe
Uh, oh. Thought Sophie. Knowing Keefe, he could make me fo something horrible for dare. By he could also do something horrible for truth too. Like a skin who I like.
" Foster, we're waiting," said Keefe.
"Um, I don't know." She answered. "What should I do Biana?"
Biana said," Well, being the girly girl I am, you should do truth."
"Ok, then dare." She said smiling. Here it comes.
Keefe and Fitz looked at eachother with smug grins. Looking at each other like they shared a secret. Dex sat quietly the whole time, watching. Occasionally he would gaze at Sophie and then look away when she looked over at him.
"Hmm... Well, Foster, I think I'm going to have to talk to Fitz about this one."said Keefe. They left the room.
"Ooh, what do you think they are going to do? Asked Biana.
"Knowing Keefe, probably something gross or embarrassing. Or both." Said Sophie.
Just then they both came in with their smirks. You ready for this? Thought Fitz.
