VI. PRECIOUS LITTLE WIFE
"you're an idiot."
"then why are you so insistent on taking care of me?"
scaramouche silenced himelf as he replaced the cold towel on mona's forehead, his face twisting into a troubled expression. she rolled her eyes at his reaction and glanced out the window beside her bed. it only showed a plethora of trees scattered around the castle grounds; not the most impressive view. it was on the lowest floor of the building, which was a basement that received a sliver of natural light from the windows on the east side, which was built through the ground that surrounded the rest of the level.
"...do you know why the queen won't let me go home?" she asked, her voice soft as she struggled to keep tears from her eyes.
scaramouche sighed as he tossed the old towel into the laundry, "i'm not sure."
she pressed her lips together and nodded slightly in response before looking back at him, "well, how's your precious little wife doing?"
"i'm not married to her yet," he muttered bitterly, crossing his arms over his chest as he stood beside the bed. "and i don't care."
"wow, you're gonna make a lovely husband," she said sarcastically. "you could at least try to care. it's not like she did anything to you."
"yeah, i guess."
hearing his unenthusiastic response, she grumbled incoherent curses under her breath and closed her eyes, "i'm going to bed now. get out."
"you could at least thank me," he scoffed.
she narrowed her eyes at him, "...fine. thank you. now leave."

"you come up here every day?"
"yep! the roof is the best place to eat lunch. a lot of people used to come up here, but then the teachers banned it."
"so... why are we up here then...?"
yoimiya grinned and winked at you, "because i made a deal with one of the staff."
you tilted your head to the side, "okay then... what if one of the others catches us, though? won't we get in trouble?"
"most of them are grading stuff and eating their lunches right now, so we're fine," she replied. "the janitor's in charge of making sure no one comes up here."
"ohh, okay then. sorry, i'd just rather not get in trouble on my first day of school."
"it's fine, i get it," she smiled. "anyway... what's life like in the castle?! i've always been curious!"
"don't shout, please!" you panicked, glancing around to see if anyone was present. "someone might hear you."
"sorry again," she whispered.
