My dad lets us in the house and we sit down, the house looked and smelt worse more than when my mom left. "I wasn't going to give up on you two, to this day I still haven't closed your case. My officers didn't know if it was kidnapping or murder." John looked at me, "Well, it wasn't either of those." John looked at a bookshelf he had in the living room, which was filled with John's books. John didn't even need to ask before Clay answered, "I found all of your books I could and looked for anything that could hint possibly anything." I put my head down, I should've told everyone we left. "Where's Jessica and Marla?" John asked. My dad looked at me for a second, then his eyes flicked to him, "They're still in Hurricane," My dad pulled out his phone, which I assumed he was calling Jessica. "Hello?" The voice of a woman came over the line. "Clay Burke here. I've found them." Jessica gasped, "Really?! I'll be right over!" Clay hung up, then called Marla next. I didn't listen to their call, "Aren't you hot, John? You've had that scarf on all day." He shrugged, and Jessica burst into the room, "JOHN! CARLTON!" John got up and ran to hug her. "Where have you been?!" She asked, still shocked we were even here. "New York."He said. Marla came in the door a few minutes later and joined the hug. "I've missed you guys so much, we all thought you died." I spoke, "John wanted to go to New York to build his career as a writer, and we just needed to escape everything." Jessica nodded, understanding why we did it so suddenly. She tilted her head and John blurted out, "We came back because Charlie came to me in a dream-!" I put a hand over my face and let it slide down. What a dumbass. Jessica's eyes widened, "What did she say?" John took in a deep breath before speaking again, "'You cannot prevent what has already happened.' And all I've known is in Hurricane." We haven't seen Charlie in years, Jessica must think he's crazy with that look on her face. "I know you miss her-" John cut her off, "I saw her, Jessica. Why would I be here if I didn't? I swore I was never coming back to this town." Jessica shrunk back and sighed. She apologized, and they made up quicker than I could find a job.

I sighed, looking at my computer. A front-desk job was absolutely horrible. But they put me here because I was social. I shifted my view to the glass doors, and I saw a tall male. My eyes widened when he looked up. Arty. I thought. He slammed both of his hands on my desk, which made me jump. "Where is John?" I shrugged, and he leaned in. "He doesn't have a room booked here, sir." I said, panic flaring inside of my chest. "Don't play with me stupid blond." I stood my ground and crossed my arms. "He isn't here, Arty. You can search the whole of Utah and you will never find him," I rose from my seat, looking down on him. "He doesn't want you. Give up and move on!" I rose my hand to slap him, and he walked away. "You will never hurt him again, Arty." He looked back at me once more before disappearing out of the front glass doors. I took in a deep breath and rubbed my temples. I honestly thought Arty was dead, he hasn't showed up since John left town two years ago. I gathered my stuff and left work. My heels clicked on the concrete sidewalk while I walked to my car. I had to tell John and Carlton about this.
