The Featherington girls all stood in the foyer of the manor, lavishly dressed in shades of yellow awaiting their new arrival who would be joining them for the season. Marina Thompson was a country girl, an extremely distant cousin who they now had to help enter into society. Miss Featherington was expecting a lot of things, however none of her expectations met the beautiful girl who now stood in front of them.
Her dark curled hair pinned up into a bun on the top of her head, the simple lavender gown that brought out the glow of her skin, she was the opposite of all their expectations, and she had arrived just in time for the duchesses ball tonight.
Meanwhile across the square Margret perched on the drawing room window seat whilst her brother rambled on about Angelicas behaviour tonight. No running, swearing or stealing food off of peoples plates when their not looking. All of which would seem pretty standard generally and seemed like basic party etiquette, yet a glum frown was still slapped against the youngest Nighthowers face.
"Oh for goodness sake Tobias I think she gets it by now." Groaned Ophelia after returning from the loo.
"Im just making sure." Tobias gushed, "oh and this goes for all of you, stay away from the Jenkins brothers." Subconsciously Margret looked up from her book and made eye contact with her brother, a silent understanding of why. "Tell Matilda." He stammered out.
"Why Matilda? That's random." Angelica said.
Tobias was silent for a moment, after all he had no idea why. It was probably because of she was her sisters best friend and they had grown up together. Or because over the years he had grown to know and like the Featherington girl. Maybe because of the storm of anger and hatred when he imagines her dancing with the Jenkins boys or any boy for that matter.
"She's like family, she deserves a lot better than the Jenkins brothers, as do you all." H e spoke levelheadedly before dismissing himself and walking up to the study.
"That was weird." Margret stated looking back at her book.
"Indeed." Said Ophelia before remembering what was in her hand. "Oh I almost forgot Whistledown arrived."
Instantly Angelica rushed over and snatched the parchment from her sisters hands. "Gimme, gimme, gimme."
"Jesus chill Ang."
"Dearest readers.." she said before reading in her head. "Oh Margret."
"What?" the girl questioned.
"Goodness Mags quite the scandalous person you are these days." Ophelia said a smirk lingering on her face.
"What are you lot on about?"
Suddenly the door slammed open revealing a frazzled looking Matilda.
"How could you not tell me?" She said amusement playing on her lips.
"Tell you what?" Said Margret starting to get extremely frustrated.
"Oh she doesn't know." Matilda smirk grew.
All three girls looked at the second Nighthower daughter. "Read it Ang." Matilda said confidently.
"Dearest readers," she began, "It appears that Miss Nighthower still doesn't understand how much attention I am paying to her. After all whenever there is a spot of scandal you can guarantee that Margret is close by. It is perculliae that the girl nobody payed any attention to, the girl who seemed boring and quite frankly I always referred to as the 'other' one, is now a perminate segment in my pieces. Sources tell me the girl has not only caught the attention of Nathaniel Jenkins but also none other than James Saint Michel. For those who are unaware of Sir James, he is Tobias Nighthowers best friend. I know its almost laughable. James arrived yesterday back from his travels in India and one his way stopped by our shindig in the park, and was immediacy captivated by the beautiful Margret. However the true scandal is that at the beginning of the party our Nighthower held a small piece of parchment. Think you got away with it Margret? Well by the end of the day the parchment had gone, to who is the question. After all as more days go by, it seems the Nighthower girl is receiving more suitors than she can handle.
Im sure Miss Daphne Bridgerton will be more than happy to take some off your hands Margret, after all it appears our diamond has fallen to the rust, with one suitor knocking on her door each morning. Shame really.
Well tonight another day another ball and I for one am particularly excited to see the Featherington, after all a craiiiaghe was seen full of luggage and word of a new addition to their seasons crowd. A debut for a girl who's name I believe is Marina Thompson.
AN: Hey sorry I have been revising for my exams that start this week but im going to Strat updating more regularly again.
This is who I envision James Saint Michel - Evan Peters
