Chapter 7: It's Not Laughing WITH Them If They're Not Laughing...

"Just find the damn bugs Raph!" Magnus all but screeched, the line disconnecting.

Raphael got the feeling at the moment he was very much regretting not still having a land line just for the sheer satisfaction of slamming down the receiver.

Aww- poor Mags. Everything he's been clamoring for for months right in front of him and he can't do a damn thing about it.

Raphael snickered, shaking his head at the phone before slipping it back in his pocket. He chuckles yet again, dark eyes sparkling with amusement, turning, glancing up before starting faintly, freezing at the sharp, censuring look and exasperated eyebrow raise meeting him.

"I-what? What's with the look?"

Simon scoffed, head tilting sarcastically.

"You know damn good and well what the looks about. You're laughing a-"

"I wasn't-"

"Pfft, please! You were practically giggling!"

Raphael gasped, head shaking.

"What? I don't giggle!"

Simon scoffed.

"You JUST Did! Can't believe you're laughing at poor Mags's suffering!"

He sputtered, shaking his head, waving him off.

"I-I wasn't! I wasn't laughing at his suffering. I wasn't laughing at him at all. I-it was just a relieved laugh, that's all. I'm just relieved that Alec's okay-"

Simon snorted, very pointedly rolling his eyes.

"Uh huh, sure."

Raphael swallowed, eyes widening, trying his best for an innocent look, giving a hopefully considerate nod.

"I am! Alec's a friend, a very good friend. I like him- can't say that about a lot of people but I can about him. I was genuinely worried about him. Plus he's really important to the two most significant people in my life; my best friend/family and my boyfriend.

I was just really worried. At first all we knew was he disappeared from a place thrumming with magic and I was dreading calling Mags and telling him he was missing. But then I heard his heartbeat and I knew he was there with Mags- so likely fairly safe- but his heartbeat didn't sound right and I didn't know what that was all about but it was rather concerning. Then Mags said he was spelled and bit by some kind of demonic bug from a hell dimension.

That was a lot to worry about and all of it could have been really, really bad.

When I finally got the facts and realized he was okay, just basically love drunk but safe and totally unharmed and in no danger whatsoever I was just relieved. That's why I was laughing; it was just a huge stress off...that's all." He finished, giving another nod and wide eyed, innocent smile.

Simon just sighed, head tilting, arms folded, staring pointedly. Raphael tried to keep up the innocent look. Simon just stared; brow raised, waiting him out. Finally Raphael began to fidget before at last giving up the ghost, groaning, slumping faintly, near pouting.
