Chapter 6 : The Rescue

It was a foggy morning, moving through the damp forest on the east side of NovaGrad. The silence was sickening for Dante, for all you could hear were the horses foot steps. "So Renzo! Have you come across any Grandell soldiers yet?" Dante asked, trying to disturb the silence. "Well, Yes but it was a small group that my men took care of in front of me. So I say that courts." Renzo answered scratching his head out of embarrassment. Dante scanned his men out of curiosity. They didn't seem like they were as good as Mount Oceans' Bandits, by just the way they carried themselves, but that's just a guess Dante thought to himself as all the men around him were constantly staring at him. Dante sighed as he knew something was up but didn't know what.

Dante pondered, "It's been two days since I left Mount Ocean, I wonder what Auro and Kim are up too?"

Present day

It's been one whole day of traveling for the rescue team. The group made decent time sailing and was currently docked, to rest for the night along the upper-east banks of NovaGrad. They were not far from their destination which was estimated to be just another half day travel at there current pace.

Before Auro and Yoseph took the first shift Auro sat down in ear shot of Joseph and Kim, "So you really don't remember anything from Ryo-Kun. Not even the games we played?" Yoseph asked slightly saddened. Kim responded," No, to be honest I only remember the massacre and the panic I felt when I had to ran. It's not something I like to look back apon." Kim looked at Yoseph and noticed that he was in deep thought staring at the floor. "But you say you remember games we use to play, maybe you can jog my memory by telling me about them." Kim asked Yoseph with slight curiosity and sympathy for him not able to connect to her. Yoseph raised his head slowly and looked at her with a smile, "Sure, where to begin." He said way more excited than before.

Auro decided to get up after hearing him say countless times , 'Oh oh and that other game where we'. However he realized that Arena was next to him all this time. "When did you get here?"
She was so fixated in her note book, that she didn't even hear his question.

Auro and Yoseph were on guard for the night. "So do you have a plan to free your father?" Yoseph asked Auro while yawning. "I have an idea but I need to see what I am working with in order to execute it correctly. You should go and rest if you can't stay awake."
"No no, you don't need to worry about me. I can last." Yoseph waving off Auro. "Yoseph, I need you to be ready for action, so please go and rest for at least an hour. Kim doesn't really sleep that long anyway especially outside." Yoseph sighed and went to lay by the smoldering fire and within a few minutes he was fast a sleep.

The next morning Auro was the last to get up from his hour rest." Hey, Auro it's time we get a move on. " Kim told him." Arena had made breakfast for the group, most of them had already eaten. The keep is roughly a twenty minute walk because I spotted it from a tall tree, ten minutes north from here." Auro jumped to his feet, grabbed the bowl of fish soup Arena prepared for him." Wow, this tastes good when did you go fishing. "Auro asked," Oh that was me. " Basil butted in, jumping down from the tree with a hand full of berries and two, handcrafted spears in the other hand." I wasn't quite sure what Arena was going to make but I saw a couple of fish when we got here. " Auro nodded saying thanks

Once Auro was done, the rescue group made their way to an advantage point where he could see the layout of the keep.
"Mhmm, it looks really similar to the keep on the east side of NovaGrad which means the rear is almost defenseless and with it so close to the mountain side its just asking to be raided. It's no wonder NovaGrad lost this keep to Grandell."

"Kim, how long would it take for you to scout the whole keep, to see how many soldiers we are going to have to deal with." Auro asked "Mhmm. The land around the keep is unknown or really awkward. It's really built on a weird spot. It serves no use, other than claiming land for the sake of claiming land."
"Right, I guess we just stick to my original plan. Let's make our way to the mountain side." Auro told the group. They all nodded in agreement and one after the other followed Auro and Kim into the forest towards the keep.
