chapter two: evil exists in the form of the girl that sits in front of me [alternatively called: those aren't welcome banners, ino]

it had only been 25 minutes since her mom dropped her off, yet sakura already felt like she'd lost 20 years of her life dealing with the people here.
from the headmaster to sai to naruto, sakura had taken L after L in trying to find a friend at konoha. and then there was sasuke.
sure, he was hot, and he had the mysterious broody vibe going for him, but sakura wasn't going to let that excuse how rude he had been to her in the beginning.
she shook her head, trying to physically rid the thoughts from her precious mind-space.
sakura's hand reached for the door to her advisory room. she hesitated in opening it, wanting to mentally prepare herself for meeting her first teacher. she was bound to make a good impression.
she had purposefully planned to get to class a few minutes early so she could get the chance to converse with her advisory teacher before students started pouring in. it was less stressful for her that way.
she opened the door and suddenly 20 pairs of eyes turned to stare straight at her.
apparently she wasn't as organized as she thought she was, somehow mistaking the class' start time for 9:40 instead of 9:30.
stupid stupid stupid stup-
"ah, you're the new student, I assume." a white-haired man said who sakura assumed was mr. hatake. he didn't look senile at all, as one would expect someone with white hair would look. on the contrary, he was pretty young and kind of hot, if sakura didn't say so herself.
"yes, i'm sorry for being late mr. hatake, i messed up the times for-"
he cuts into her apology, "don't worry about it. and please, call me kakashi. you can even stick a sensei on it if you'd like, i just hate the formalities. makes me feel way too old."
she warmly smiles in response. "well thanks, kakashi-sensei."
he returns the smile and guides her to the front of the class, reminding her of the 19 other kids in the classroom. standing before them, sakura couldn't help but start to feel a little self-conscious of herself.
she decided to go for a simple look today, with her hair down and teased into very loose curls that looked more like waves. she wasn't wearing much makeup either, just a touch of mascara and some blush. and lip gloss, of course.
not that sakura thought she could pull off the effortlessly pretty look, but she didn't want to set insanely high standards for herself to other students so they knew this is what she looked like. and that way, when she did go all out, everyone else would be even more impressed. simple new-kid 101 tactics.
she knew she wasn't ugly, but standing there as her cohorts bore into her image, taking in every single detail and flaw, made her deeply uncomfortable. it wasn't any better that there was a specific pair of icy blue eyes that were glaring daggers into her own.
among the students, she recognized sai sitting in the front row and naruto and sasuke sitting together in the back corner of the classroom near the windows.
she saw that they were sitting next to each other, so maybe they were friends. close lockers, close seats, it's not crazy to assume.
kakashi-sensei interrupts her thoughts with that beautiful voice of his, "since you're standing, how about you introduce yourself to the class?"
how about you do it for me so i can sit the fuck down?
she put on the best smile she had, "hello everyone, my name is sakura haruno, it's nice to meet you all!" she offers a gracious wave to the class before scanning the room for an empty seat, the only one being-
