Withering Woods
By HC_Leung
The roads diverge in hyperspace
around crumbled time and slithering traces of light.
Which way she went, I do not know.
Her smiles and flowery scent
are now mere phantoms that long went.
How I got here, too long a story to tell,
except she once held my hand
and said we were the same.
She donned her Omni-suit and led me
while following a compass that was neither right or wrong.
Now's she's moved on,
wondering off to her next compulsion
somewhere among the stars and the nebulae of another time or dimension.
And perhaps I am just a fleeting moment
like a shooting star that is meant to be forgotten.
She was my temptation,
my hope and salvation.
By her instruction, I lived, died,
and was resurrected.
I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for her.
Now, my solitude keeps me company,
and together our soles sink into the gravitational field.
The hyperspace is decaying like withering woods
and as my Omni-suit fails, with red warning lights,
my white bones
recede into the absolute dark that has no sound.
