When the hug had dismissed, Avolon said "I have to get going to my next class but I will see you later!" She gave Cora a kiss goodbye and then ran to the bathroom. When she got there, she saw her friend Chey. "Hey Cheyyyyy, guess what! I've got some tea!"
Chey remarked "Oooooooooh, what is it???" with a lot of enthusiasm. "You know my girlfriend Cora, right?"
"How could I not? Why are you even with her?"
" I already told you that! But basically, she's got autism, and the poor thing actually trusts me! Can you believe that?! I feel so bad!!"
Word spread and eventually everyone in the school knew. When Cora went to go get lunch in the cafeteria, somebody randomly pushed her and she fell on the ground. She wasn't taking the news of autism well so she decided to just stay there for a bit. The girl that pushed her down had then said "Watch where you're going SPED kid. We don't want your dirty autism touch"
Cora was shocked at this news and didn't know how to react. Who heard her talking to Avolon? Was it Avolon that told people? Who could she trust? She didn't know what to do. Soon enough Avolon came up to her and said " bleachers, under them. Halfway through lunch."
She had gotten to lunch and she was really nervous, what was going to happen to her? When it was halfway through lunch she went to the bleachers.
Under the bleachers.
Cora had noticed she was going to have to go far into the bleachers until Cora saw her.
Avolon.
Finally. When she was there she noticed that a couple of people were surrounding Avolon.
Then, when she approached Avolon, Avolon said,"When I found out you had autism, boy oh boy.
I thought you knew not to trust others? Especially not me? You just had one look at me and thought. That's so beautiful. You didn't even do a background check and instead you said "Will you go out with me?" Then when I heard that, I also heard more voices in my head saying "use it to your advantage, use it to your advantage, use it to your advantage." and that's what I did. I listened. Now look at you. All alone, I can't even say it! Autism. How does it feel? Weird? Because that is all you are. Now look at me. LOOK AT ME!"
Coras eyes were filled with tears at this point. She didn't know what to do, who to trust! But she knew something.
The next time she sees Avolon. She's not just going to cry over her. She's going to get over her.
The next time Cora saw Avolon, she did get over her. Slowly, she started to develop a place where people of all types of problems could come together. When people heard of her, they started coming to her. Then at one point in her last year of high school, she saw a freshman, who was sitting all alone on the ground. Avolon was right above the kid. Cora went up to Avolon and said "Leave the kid alone."
Then what happened is astonishing, she reached out a hand to the young freshmen and said "what's your name, kid. Pronouns too."
"Ash. They,them."
"My my, a little homo guy. Well watch out for me, because if you see me in the halls, you're not gonna be seen again." Avolon exclaimed
Then, as Ash was getting up, Cora told them "don't worry, young child, she won't harm a bug. After all, she tried to harm me, after I told her I was autistic. No one takes the news very well I see."
Ash then said "I understand. I have autism too!!"
So there Avolon was standing, probably not the best future, and definitely not the best friends. Meanwhile Cora was thriving. She had a community she could always go to and a business that would raise notice to autism and people on the spectrum. She had her life all planned out and was helping young kids like Ash become people they ARE proud to be.
