ELIZA MORGAN

" So when does school start? " the older sister Alana asked her father.

They all were sitting at the dining table, for an early breakfast.

Their mother was preparing toasts for everyone, while they drank their coffee.

" In a week I think something happened at the local school, they have given vacation for a week." Jack answered his favored daughter, a happy smile gracing his lips.

" Really What? "

" I don't know, maybe some kind of accident, it damaged school property, they needed time to fix everything and students needed time to deal with the trauma as well."

"How bizarre, they didn't tell you what kind of accident it was?"

" No, they looked very uncomfortable when I asked. Maybe they didn't want to tell me, for fear of the reputation of the school. "

" I am sure someone from town can tell us." Mom added.

" Yeh, maybe but everyone here is somewhat unwelcoming." Father said as he accepted half burnt toast from mom's hand.

" Oh yeah, that's sad it would make it hard to adjust here." Alana sounded disappointed.

"Well, it's Wednesday today, you girls have four days to yourself. Why not explore the town? It will be easier to adjust in school too if you make friends before it starts."

Their mother suggested.

It would take everything in me, but I want to see the town.

" Sounds good, I will go get ready,"

Alana squealed happily and practically scooted upstairs.

Eliza didn't move, it would take hours for her to get ready. She can chill for a few more minutes. Not to mention she was not done with her breakfast.

Her father had another plane for her though. He is looking at her with disappointment and a bit of disgust.

" Learn something from her Eliza. Can't you for once behave like a human and not like some scared beaten animal."  He screamed loudly in her face, making her flinch backwards.

His voice was filled with venom just like his words.

She couldn't find her voice, her body trembled from fear.

She wanted to leave but her body felt frozen. Her wide unblinking eyes remained glued on the table before her.

Jack rubbed his face with one hand, as if he was in physical pain.

" I can't believe you are my daughter Eliza. Oh God, your face right now, is the ugliest thing I have ever seen."

He shouted and left the room.

Eliza looked towards her mother,  She wore a frown on her face but she said nothing, she just turned away from her.

Eliza thought that she would cry once she got inside her room but she didn't, she couldn't feel the pain, she couldn't feel hurt, she felt nothing.

"You coming?" Eliza's sister opened the door of the room without even knocking.

" No. " she answered from beneath her big fluffy blanket.

" You sure, dad will be angry. "

"Just go please."
