Chapter 2 | Zoe

Bright flashes similar to the ones in the Lighters test flashed in front of her eyes.

The glimpses she saw of Ms. Rogers didn't look like she was confused and worried, but focused and curious. Like she was anticipating whatever was about to happen- or happening. Suddenly, she saw flashes of the future? She had no idea what they were. Future, past, present, or fantasy. There was a boy. He had dirty blonde hair, green hair eyes, and was wearing a red hoodie. He was smiling. Zoe was also there, standing across him with two other girls that looked like Lya and Zara. Wait. Zoe thought. How did I not see it before! That's Ryder! The scene changed and Zoe was in the Moonlight Cafe with a bunch of her friends (Aleeza, Lya, Zara, Ryder, Vyctor, Eli, Bradon, etc.) Once again scene changed, and Zoe and Ryder were sitting together in a tree. The silver spruce tree (a special tree that grew back at her house) it looked like. Zoe looked rather mopey, and Ryder seemed like he was trying to cheer her up.

The changed to different scenes of him, Zoe, and their friends with the same tree. Suddenly, a blinding light blocked the rest of the scenes from view, and caused the headache to grow excruciatingly painful. Different kinds of visions filled her mind once the brightness faded. Her and some friends battling a woman who looked so evil that evil was not a evil enough word to describe her, her and the same group of people sitting around a campfire with grim looks on their face, her crying but still fighting back to back with Vyctor. Suddenly her heart hurt the way it hurts when your puppy dies, and you cry for so long that you run out of tears and are just wheezing at that point. It was like she was feeling all the grief and loss she would feel in her whole life in that one moment.
