Clyde was an idiot, and she had all the right mindset to believe it. She hated him, but also liked him at the same time. She'd worked with him on almost every job and had the closest relationship with then anybody else in the gang. The only problem was their wasn't much of a gang anymore. By now, everyone except her, Brooke, and Wes. They had lost pretty much everyone, and Clyde hadn't done anything to fix it.
"This is in my hands now."
Jasmine was known in the gang for her ability to go anywhere silently. She'd learned many tricks with her time in the gang, but her best way the way she could sneak and hide.
Everyone in the gang had a nickname, hers being Shadow, which fit very appropriately. It had been 2 weeks since since Clyde had become the new leader, and within that time, she got no leads on jobs or hits. Something was up with Clyde. He had been acting weird lately, not speaking a word to anyone and locking himself in his office headquarters for days at a time. She needed to get to the bottom of this. She exited her dorm room, and headed right to his office in a jog."Jasmine!"
She flung her head around to catch who's voice it was.
"I wanted to tell you I'm leaving the gang. Clyde's done nothing within the two weeks since he became leader. There's nothing here anymore, I've been offered a spot somewhere else." The voice was that of Brooke River. She was the "Watcher" in the gang. Watchers were able to know almost anything about anyone, no matter if they just met. The way they knew was beyond Jasmine, but they were one of the most fundamental parts when it came to planning heists or jobs.
"Please Brooke. I'm going to talk to him now. We need you." She rested her hand on Brooke.
"I'm sorry. I don't want to be bound to a gang that has untrustworthy members."
"What's that supposed to mean?" She said it more sharply then she would have likely, and get herself heat.
"Everybody here is useless. Nobody gives a crap anymore. After two weeks you finally decide it's a good time to mention something to Clyde. Goodbye Jasmine."
"Don't let us ur door hit your ass on the way out." She muttered to herself.
"What was that?"
She replied with with an "F-off" before turning and doing a gesture which heavily relied on her middle finger. They could make out without her.
She proceeded to the headquarters in which Clyde was likely at. The reached the doors and gave three hard knocks.
"Not the best time." She heard shouted from the other side.
"Clyde you open this damn door right now!"
"Go away Jasmine."
Nothing happened for moments. He must have thought she left. She waited till she heard nothing and pulled out two small needles of metal and put them in the lock and fiddled around for some time before she was able to turn the handle and enter.
"Jesus, Jasmine I taught you well. But does privacy mean nothing to you."
"Brooke just left. All we have left is Wes, and I'm sure he's thinking of leaving now. It's been two weeks and you haven't said a word to anyone. You better have one good bloody excuse." She said sternly, as she slammed her hands on the desk. Without a word, he passed her a letter.
"What's this?"
"Read it." He said sharply.
"What it is it Clyde?" She asked again.
"You heard me the first time."
She turned her eyes from Clyde's pissed face down to the letter. It was from Hardam. She read it over noticing the clear riddle,
The colour of difference shows the way when the path is unclear.
"What's it mean?" She asked. Clyde said nothing. The sat down on the chair across from Clyde.
"Look Clyde. We don't have time to solve riddles he left for us right now. We have no gang left. We need to start hunting for new people." Clyde sat still silent, deep in thought. Finally after having enough, Jasmine headed for the exit.
"Don't expect me to stay here then." She knew this would cause him to start talking.
"Leave then, see if I'll stop you." Clyde said.
"I can't convince you anymore." Jasmine replied.
Jasmine began walked the halls.
Come on Clyde. Your not winning this one."Jasmine!"
"Oh look, your ready to understand now." Jasmine said sarcastically.
"Fine, your right. This can wait. I'll get Wes to stay, and I'll start looking for new members."
"That's the Clyde I know best."
He rolled his eyes before exiting the room and walking to Wes's dorm.
Jasmine got what she wanted. She convinced Clyde. It was a little harder then she anticipated but she got him on her side. Although the riddles is interesting and might give them a lead on a new job, they needed people first. Now all she had to do was wait.
