His sister. He never would have thought he would have seen her again. Not after the tragic events. He pushed the thoughts away, and focused on the note in front of him.
The girl across while waiting for Clyde to read the note gave her hand towards Clyde's sister.
"I'm Jasmine. It's a pleasure to meet you. I didn't know Clyde even had a sister. We're happy to have you."
"Thank you." She replied shaking her hand. After a moment the other boy introduced himself.
"Wes. I'm not good with greetings so pretend I said what Jasmine said." He also offered his hand. She replied with a shake of the hand and revealed her name. Lily.
"Hardam you bastard!" Clyde exclaimed out of nowhere.
"What?" Jasmine and Wes said and quickly huddled around him like moths to a light.
"Guys. We have a new lead on a job. This may be the craziest thing we've done yet." Clyde said.
"What's happening." Lily asked.
"Our old boss left the gang. Yeah guess I forgot to mention we're a gang. Anyways I'll come back to that. Hardam randomly left leaving us multiple messages and riddles scattered around. We've finally cracked the case on one, and we have a new lead on a job. One that may get us," He hesitated as if the next words weren't real ", 50 million."
"Fifty bloody million!" Wes exclaimed. "What the hell are we doing to get that kind of money?"
"A heist."
Jasmines hand covered her mouth as she gasped. "We can discuss the all later, now, drinks around the table."
They spent the night in accompany of Lily, as they told stories of the gang and she told hers from the city. They drank as they sat around the table and had a fire going. Lily fit right in. Something about her was like a missing piece from Clyde. He seemed to be in a happier mood and not as bitchy as he usually was. The thought of 50 million would stay rested for the night as they celebrated the return on "The Lost Sister". They laughed through the night until it was time to head to bed, and return to planning in the morning. They said their "goodnights" and they left until it was just Jasmine and Clyde.
"I never would have believed it." Clyde said into the open.
"She's lovely. She'll be of great help to us." Jasmine replied. "We've been looking for new people and getting a Watcher is amazing." She raised her glass to her mouth allowing the thick sap-like liquid burn the back of her throat again.
"I missed her so much." For the first time ever, Jasmine saw Clyde shed a tear, but quickly turned around and wiped it away.
"You don't need to hide it Clyde. I know it was hard. Please don't feel you need to hide these things. From me at least." Jasmine placed her hand over Clyde's. After a moment of it being on top, he turned his over and intertwined his fingers in Jasmine's.
"Thanks Jasmine. For everything. I owe everything to you. Without you, I'd be somewhere else." She could tell me meant it. Her cheeks gave an awkward shade of red, which quickly faded.
"Don't thank me. It's you I should be thanking. You took me in, showed me a path when the way was blocked."
Clyde leaned over towards Jasmine, and gave her cheek a kiss.
"Clyde! What the hell are you doing? You've never done this. You never showed affection to anyone."
The moment crashed his thoughts and feelings, and before he knew, his lips were brushing hers. His soft hand running along her hair. The kiss felt so long, and he couldn't break away, nor could she.
"What am I doing. With Jasmine? Seriously, you have better things to do."
That thought was then again shot down as the finally broke apart. They were lost in words.
"Sorry to intrude your thing happening here." Was had returned to grab his revolvers.
"Look Wes it's not what- Jasmine was interrupted.
"No I get it. You just wanted your heart played with. You wanted to someone to say they love you. You would know what that feels like anyways." Wes spat the words on the ground.
"You bitch! Yeah, my parents died and left me with nothing. Just because you have someone to love you, doesn't mean I can't have one thing to cherish."
"Oh yeah I get it, maybe your parents never died. Maybe they couldn't deal with your mess. Never trust anyone Jasmine. But it looks to be to late. Enjoy your riddle solving and games. I'm done here." Wes threw his hands in the air, then shoved his revolver in his belt, before busting though the door.
"Clyde, he's just upset. He'll be back."
"No he's right. I'm sorry Jasmine, I never should have done that. Don't trust anyone.Especially not me." Clyde got up, and followed Wes out the door leaving Jasmine in shock.
"Wes!" He called out onto the alleyway street.
"Piss off, Clyde." He turned around and flipped him off.
"Come here. Please I can't explain." Clyde reassured.
"No you can't Clyde. These last weeks have been a disaster. All because of you." Wes was mad, and he began walking faster away.
"You didn't mean that." Clyde's tone getting sharper.
"Give up Clyde. Go play with more peoples feelings."
He wouldn't give up. Wes was his best friend, and even if he didn't say it, it was true. If he was to trust anyone, it would be him.
"Alright, if you won't stop I'll make you." Wes pointed his revolver at Clyde.
"You wouldn't shoot." Clyde's voice going calmer.
"Wanna make a bet? Your a gambler, let's determine the odds."
"You shoot, and there will be nothing left. You shoot, and things will be better. So you know what, shoot me."
Wes's hand began shaking, he was struggling remaining a steady aim.
"Hard isn't it? You know you can't shoot, so put the gun down."
"No." Wes's finger stumbled around the trigger, before he finally had the courage and pulled it. The bullet flew towards Clyde, puncturing his chest. Light faded from his vision, as it soon reappeared.
