30. A parasite

Jin there a long strip small wire that look completely ordinary. The group stood around a medium size table. Filled with confusion, they took turns glancing between Jim and Jin.

"Uhm... not to be rude, but what's this?"

RM opened his mouth as he asked the question everyone had in mind.

"What you're seeing now is called 'a parasite'. It contains many different drug that could stimulate a persons mood to change drastically. If it successfully bonded with the body, whoever is in control could manipulate that person like a puppet."

The small room was silent. Everyone had their eyes widen in shock, and as if they all agreed with one another, they simultaneously step back in fear their bodies would become its host. Jungkook immediately had a frosty gaze in his eyes as his arm defensively wrap around Lisa's waist.

"Don't worry. It's dead. We cut off its head which receives signals from its owner."

Jim explained as he sees his friend's cautious expression towards that little machinery, lying peacefully and harmless on the metal table.

Jin turned on the projector as series of number and information were displayed. However, a picture stood out in the midst of them as Jungkook stared with so much hatred.

"Are they connected with this incident?"

Jin knew that nothing could be hidden in his eyes. Nodding his head, he continue to explain,

"After years and years of searching, we finally found the mastermind of this whole entire accident. If all of you remember about that gruesome massive experiment that was discovered by the government, it seems like the perpetrator is on the move again.

"But this time, their target is not large scale, instead it's only on one person. Hyo-jin may have a little knowledge in this top secret investigation and that's why I didn't reject your idea to join since we need more people, whose aware of this, to be part of this team."

"..."

Everyone was silent as they waited for the two men to continue.

"As you've heard, Jin has been investigating non-stop since the publicity of the scientific experiment ten years ago. Everyone was caught except for the mastermind and he's close associates. But recently, I caught a signal that corresponds with the beta that was left behind."

Jimin showed another wire, similar to the parasite but a little bigger. The head was in a triangular shape with long-white strips.

"This is the prototype of the parasite. The parasite without the head," Jimin pointed out with his glove hand at the crush triangular shape "is what we found embedded on Belle's brain"

Everyone gasped silently as they look at the small, harmless wired looking machine. They could not think how dangerous it was.

"I ran some tests on Belle and found that her blood pressure was normal, her oxygen level was normal, and her blood circulation was normal as well. Everything was normal that something felt amiss and so, I took a blood test on her and found that her cells look extremely different, to the point that it doesn't even look like blood anymore."

Jin showcased another image and it shook the group. The small disc that represents the blood cells didn't look like blood at all. The red had a mixture of violet, blue, and yellow. Others had a long strand of hair-like while others look fuzzier than the others.

"That's not even the worst thing we found. Jimin and I also ran a test on Belle's brain and found this. This image here is the healthy brain while this is not, which is her brain."

Jin showed a brain filled with different hues of green that look like molds. It was disgusting to look at that Lisa fisted her hands on Jungkook's shirt. The latter felt her discomfort and pushed her head gently on his heartbeat to calm her down while patting her back.

"What lead Belle's brain to look like a fungi are the affects of the different drugs that was fed on her followed by the drug from the parasite. The results still hasn't shown on what was the drug that the parasite gave on her. The main problem is not the drug that she was fed with, although that's dangerous nothing is more important than her brain. 

"Drugs that are consumed can be cured overtime but drugs that directly fed on the brain has no parentage of cure. This is the first time that we've run into something that's completely unimaginable. Running a test to find out what type of drugs was Belle ingested is not hard to find but the drugs associated to her brain is what's giving us a blockage to our research."

"But Jin has a speculation that maybe one of the drugs that was on the parasite is drummaculaties, its a newly infested drug that could slowly turn a person into another and could gain control of their conscious by another person who has control of the parasite."

Jimin paused before locking his gaze on Lisa, who is still nestled on Jungkook's arms.

"Now, the reason why I am patiently explaining to all of you about this parasite and the drugs because of the result of our investigation months ago. We found, one night, in a secret warehouse the missing ladies that were issued by the police. Beautiful. Unique beauty. Tall with long legs. Small face. Large brown doe eyes. Long and short hair with bangs. But all of them had one in common; disfigured faces to look like someone.

"All of these females had also gone the same route as Belle. Torture. Threats to their loved ones. And a parasite on their brains. The good part is that Hyo-jin managed to get Belle out of that mess and bring her here quietly because if not, she would have been send into another secluded warehouse to be disfigured to look like someone."

"...and who is that 'someone'?"

Jimin and Jin glanced at each other before looking back at Lisa with sympathy and sadness. 

As if everyone understood the silence, they all knew the answer to Lisa's questions. 

"Jimin also found this picture of yours which, we believed, was taken when you were a teenager."

Lisa hurriedly grab the photo inside a ziplock bag and widen her eyes in shock. She could not help but throw away the picture in hatred, disgust, and chill running all over her body. Jungkook immediately pulled her into his embraced and saw the content of the picture as it landed on the floor softly while facing up.

The young Lisa was smiling in delight as a girl, that look like Belle, has her arm wrapped around her and the other man who was smiling but his eyes were trained on Lisa. Another man was also standing right beside Lisa but Jungkook could tell that he doesn't have any feelings aside that of a close friend.

"Isn't this...Lucas?"
