January 3rd 1988, Missouri
The whole family sat in Merideths house as Jason talked to the officer. "I'm sorry, we searched the whole state and put out flyers and there's no one who's found him, therefore there's nothing we can do right now besides hope someone comes forward." The detective explained but Marcus quite didn't get it "But it's only been 2 days, you can still find him." He said in hope that his older brother would return.
"I'm sorry kid we can only hope right now, we're doing the best we can to find your big brother so he can come back to you and your family." The detective crouched over Sadly "Peter wouldn't do this he's never acted out like this before" Aunt Linda said "Well the kid just lost his mother, what is there to be happy about?" Jason's brother says.
This causes a whole argument between the family and it's too much for Marcus as he runs up the stairs to his now single room. "He lost his mother and his brother, I suggest you maybe start a therapy." The detective says. "It's okay, I'll go talk to him." Jason says as he runs up the stairs after Marcus.
"Marc?" He knocks on the door and opens it to see Marcus laying in Peter's bed crying "Marc, are you okay?" He lift his eyes seeing his grandfather "No, I just want them back." He says shakily. "I know, me too" Jason sits on the bed "We'll get him back, I promise".
But they never did
Marc moved to Ohio with his grandfather soon after and tried to play off a 'normal' life like nothing ever happened.
Jason was in the kitchen making breakfast for his first day there "I made breakfast, hungry?" He said as he tossed a strawberry in his mouth. "No thank you though" Marcus said as he passed by.
Sadness filled Jason's eyes, he missed them too.
May 1993, Ohio
The holidays were never the same, Marcus would spend his time in his room researching and looking for his brother, the police tried but they didn't find anything.
Jason had heard that there were new neighbors moving in and called Marcus to welcome them "Marc! Come on we got new neighbors". Marcus groaned and rolled his eyes "Do I have to?!" He said. "Yes and they have kids I think around your age" Marcus got up and threw some flip flops on to go downstairs.
"Hot damn, you look like a mess go change" Jason says. "No thanks grandpa" and he walks out the door in basketball shorts and a tee shirt "don't give me sass James!" Jason yelled. "I don't have sass 'grandfather' now can we go?" He rolls his eyes and walks them 2 houses down to see a moving truck and a young couple with a younger girl unloading it.
Jason puts his hand on Marc's shoulder and straightens his jacket then walks over to them. "Hi, I noticed your new here I'm Jason and this is my grandson James." He says. "Marcus" Marc corrects.
"Yes we are I'm Alexei, this is my wife Melina and we have two little-" on cue a younger girl with red hair comes out of the house and runs to Alexei and another with blonde hair to Melina. "Ah there they are! These are our daughters Natasha and Yelena, say hi." Alexei says and Yelena waves but hides her face in her mother's neck.
"Hi!" Natasha says and holds her hand out as Marcus stares at it but eventually shakes and Jason does the same. "I'm Natasha" She says and Marcus nods "Marcus" He stares at her curiously she looked nothing like Alexei or Melina but maybe it was a family thing.
"Such good manners" Jason nodded along with his statement "Thank you maybe these 3 could hang out for a while" Melina says and Alexei nods but Marcus on the other hands mouth flew right open, he wasn't gonna play with 'girls' he had 'stuff to do' he closed his mouth "Can we do that later? I'm busy right now" He says and His grandfather knew exactly what he was talking about.
"Excuse us for a moment" He says and drags his grandson over to a nearby bush and crouches down to whisper "Marc you can't keep doing this to yourself, you starve and stay up in your room all day, you never go outside, Marc you have no friends and these girls...I miss them too y'know but they're gone and you can't change it" He explains with tears threatening to spill when Marcus doesn't look at him.
"Look at me buddy" He turns Marcus's face to finally look at him "I'm sorry, that I'm not your mother, I know and I'm not your brother but I need you to work with me alright?"
Marcus sighs and nods "fine" He says and wipes his grandfather's tears away and grabs his hand to walk back.
"Sorry about that, uh yea I'll hang out with you guys" Melina nods and hums "How old are you?" Alexei asks. "He's 10, got a birthday in August" Jason says.
"Wow you're coming up buddy big 11!" Alexei says exaggeratly and gives Marcus a fist bump "You got any other family?" Melina asks and Marc looks down not sure if he should tell them and shakes his head sadly "no exept my aunt and her kids and some cousins" Melina catches on "Sorry for you loss" She says and Jason shakes his head " It's fine its was a few years ago" he says and they nod "We were thinking of barbecuing as a homewelcoming party next week how about then?" Alexelei says.
"Yeah that's fine, we'll help out moving you in if we can?" Jason says. "Yes thank you" Melina says and for the rest of the day Jason and Marcus help move the family in.
