Beyoncé gathered the tray of food she bought on the way home.

She hasn't stress ate in years , but if there was ever a need to stuff her face it was now.

Shawn still hadn't waken up and the swelling from his emergency surgery had gotten to the point where they had go back in and cut to give his wound some more room.

On top of that , she was informed that one of the bullets nicked his large intestine which could either heal on its own or lead to more damage and leave him wearing a shit bag for the rest of his life.

Kelly wasn't answering her phone to confirm what she had been hearing about Jaelyn.

Apparently he was murdered which should've been convenient for her , but proved to be quite the opposite.

She still didn't have the closure she wanted from him.

She didn't have the courage to come out and say what she wanted to say about her surprise pregnancy , to have have the satisfaction of lying to his face and telling him that the baby wasn't his.

She would never get to cuss him out , yell , or call him out him out the way she wanted.

She no longer had the option of even making up with him and deciding to coparent because he was dead as hell and there was nothing she could do to change that.

Then there was Charles.

She had no idea why seeing his number on her phone before she left the hospital gave her the slightest bit of hope that he had changed his mind and would entertain her urge to cope in the unhealthiest way through sec , pain , and mind games but it did.

Hearing her beautiful baby boy's voice come through the speaker instead kind of sobered her and made her realize that no part of this would be easy , but he deserved the best version of her not just as a mother but as a person in general.

He wasn't going to be a baby forever and that scared the shit out of her.

He was going to be a teenager with his own thoughts , memories, beliefs , and emotions, and she could only pray that she raised him to be a decent human being.

Someone that wouldn't follow in the footsteps of his teenage parents and make stupid mistakes that would make him mature faster than necessary.

That he would take his schooling seriously and pursue a career that truly made him happy instead of having to get a job flipping burgers , not that there was anything wrong with that.
