I'm Ezra and I live in California and life here is fairly great. I live in an apartment with my mother and my best friend Freddy. But one day this boy moved in and it got better. Oh looks like we have new neighbors, Mom said looking out the window. Really, I asked? Yea, and he's cute, Mom said winking at me to go talk to him. I'll be right back, I said. I walk out the door. Wow Freddy, making new friends I see, I asked Freddy? Who's this, the boy asked? Oh Daniel this is Ezra, Ezra this is Daniel, Freddy said. Hi nice to meet you, I said shaking his hand. Nice to meet you too, Daniel said. Mind if I give you a nickname, I asked? No, I don't mind, Daniel said. I'll call you Danny, I said. Cool, Danny said. Hey Ezra you coming to the beach party, Freddy asked? Nah, I have stuff to do, I said. You should come, Danny said. Yea, please, Freddy said. Fine, I said.

-Beach Party-

While Freddy and the boys played soccer I just sat in the sun or just swam. I see Danny stare at Ali Mills and I feel jealousy creep up on me. So being the petty person I am, I stopped in front of the ball and did a little trick, and kicked the ball the other way. While Freddy and the other boys ran toward the ball Danny came up to me. Hey, those were some nice tricks, you played soccer, He asked? I used to, I said. Why did you stop, He asked? Well let's just say the boys on the soccer team don't like me, I said. The day turned into night and we had a big campfire. Danny and Ali were doing soccer tricks while I stared at the fire. What's wrong with you, Freddy asked? I point to Danny and Ali. Wait don't tell you like Danny, Freddy said mouthing the word, Danny. I might have a tiny crush on him, I said. Freddy smiles and then walks away. Then I see Johnny and his crew pull up. Johnny started harassing Ali. Danny tries to intervene but a fight breaks out. Johnny leave him alone, I said. Yea, right fag, Johnny said. I got so mad I punched him in the face. But he punches me back and then kicks me in the ribs and I fall to the ground. Danny gets back trying to defend me but he gets knocked back down. Were both on the ground and I see Freddy and his crew walk away. I got up feeling the pain in my ribs and went to Danny who was still on the ground. Danny are you alright, I asked? Yea, I'm fine, He said. Are you sure, I asked? Yea, I'm fine just leave me alone, He said. I got up and walked away. I spend that night worried about Danny and if he was going to be ok.
