WANDA POV
I didn't think it was possible for the smile that's taken up residence across my cheeks for the last hour to get any wider until I feel the bustling New York atmosphere disappear, replaced with a crisp sea breeze and the squawking of gulls overhead.
It takes a minute for my eyes to adjust to the dark; it must be fairly late here in the UK. I observe Y/n standing in front of me when they do, spying nerves evident on her face as she releases my hand and momentarily disappears from my sight at a blinding speed.
A light turns on behind me while music starts playing softly in the background and a second later, I feel her hand on my shoulder, gently spinning me around and I find myself gasping once again at the sight before me.
Strings of fairy lights have been taped around the walls of our cove providing a cosy setting for the mountain of pillows and blankets laid on the sand where Reggie and Kenny are sitting together next to a large picnic blanket and a pile of presents sitting on top.
"What's better than a picnic for Reggie and Kenny's first date?" Y/n says quietly, breaking my stunned silence.
I turn back to the girl still standing anxiously beside me and grab her by the waist, her surprised squeal music to my ears as I pull her against my body and shower her face with kisses.
"It's perfect, I love it. You're perfect, thank you, моя милая (my sweet girl)," I mumble against her lips, kissing her deeply. "When did you do all of this?"
"While you were in the bathroom, having super speed does have its perks."
Rejoining our hands, I practically skip into the cove, pulling Y/n down into the mass of pillows and delivering another kiss on her forehead, feeling overwhelmed with all the emotions flooding my heart.
Now I understood operation red, she and Emilia had been planning this for me all week and I couldn't feel more grateful or thought of. The whole mission, all I had been able to think about was returning to Y/n and I can't think of a better coming home gift.
"Here, I knew it would be chilly so I packed these."
Y/n fumbles behind the pillows to reveal another bag, this one packed with extra jumpers and some joggers which I happily throw on top of my current clothes before burying under the blankets, relieving my skin from the cold seeping into my bones.
"What's in the basket?" I say, eyeing the wicker box near my feet, praying its contents are edible.
"Hungry?" Y/n grins, summoning the basket closer with her powers and flipping the lid so she can begin unpacking the containers inside. "It's filled with all your favourites, of course. Well, not all your favourites, my culinary talents are extremely limited."
I groan at the sight of the food, spying paper plates tucked in the side of the basket and eagerly snatching one out to start piling at least one of everything being spread out on the blanket in front of me. Y/n laughs at my haste, preparing herself a plate while I'm already wolfing mine down.
"Oh, wow," I moan, chewing furiously, "This is amazing, детка (baby), thank you so much."
"It's okay, Em helped with this too. I also have..." She digs behind her again and presents a bottle of wine and two plastic cups, "...this!"
"Ooo, very fancy."
I shuffle over until my side is completely pressed against her and, as much as we both have a thousand things to say to each other, we eat in content silence, totally focused on the food while we look out at the moonlit waves.
