Advanced Learning Function

"You idiots really did it out there, huh?" Axel said, in a garage where he was fixing up Roxy after the skateboard incident. She had several scrapes on her exoskeleton and some damage to her endoskeleton, a few loose bolts and wires, nothing he couldn't fix.

"It wasn't me, dad! I tried warning her, but she just zoomed off before we could stop her!" Gregory said, "Come on now, Greg, I was rocking it out there!" Roxanne said.

"Im sure you were, now stay still!" Axel said as he began screwing in the bolts loose in Roxy's spine. Gregory shone the light to help Axel, "Hey Roxy, does it hurt when you get well... hurt?"

"I can detect damages in a microsecond, I guess you can call it pain" Roxy said, Gregory soon said "How long do you think you can last? At this rate at least"

"With your guy's car batteries charging me, and if I keep getting repairs, at least 60 years" Roxy said, and Axel soon tightened the final bolt and began reattaching the wires with his wiring kit. "Do you ever learn?" Gregory said

"Based on what my programming entails, yes I can. Like with that skateboard" Roxy said, Axel sighed.

"Can you learn what your programming doesn't include?" Gregory asked, and Roxy looked at him, "Why would I?"

"Because so you can be... more human? And not just an over confident, self-centered robot?"

Roxy was silent, as if what Gregory said stood out to her. Roxy soon said "I can... but only if my CPU has the Advanced Learning Feature on. It's not as simple as switching code in a script, my CPU has a switch that can be set into multiple settings. But me and my friends are always set into Perform Mode, or Learn mode."

"How come they never put you in the other modes?"

"They do on special occasions. Leaving us on at Advanced Learning Mode significantly increases our chances of becoming fully autonomous and going rouge"

"They don't want you to do too much thinking, huh?" Axel said, Roxy shook her head no. "Can we switch it?" Gregory asked. Both Roxy and Axel looked at Gregory, and were silent for a moment before Roxy said "Perhaps we can, just try not to destroy my CPU. I need it to continue functioning"

Roxy was sitting on a table, and had a mirror infront of them all so she can see what they are doing and guide them. "To open my chest cavity, press the buttons under my shoulders at the same time. Be careful though, my chest cavity will spring open once the buttons are pushed" Axel went to the left side of Roxy, and Gregory went to the right side. Both located the buttons, and counted to 3 before pressing the buttons. Roxy's chest cavity violently sprung open, startling both Greg and Axel.

"Now, you should see a black box up my chest, where the breast plates are located. See it?" Roxy instructed, Gregory shined the light inside and up, soon seeing the black box. "I see it, there's a small switch though!"

"Good, now flip the switch"

Gregory soon flipped the switch, and he heard a beeping sound before a small keypad lowered down. "To access the CPU, you must put in the following code: 8634109" Gregory put in the code on the keypad, and soon the keypad raised back into the black box and soon a small door opened where Gregory saw the chip inside.

"The CPU is now accessible, grab a gripping tool and pull it out" Roxanne instructed, Gregory reached his hand outside and Axel handed him a tool he can use to grasp the CPU and pull it out. He soon managed to get a hold of the chip and soon pulled it out, Roxy's jaw dropped slightly and she was completely motionless as Gregory climbed back out.

Axel soon took the chip to a separate table, and examined it. Meanwhile, Gregory got infront of Roxy's face and waved his hand infront of her. He then snapped his finger, Roxy didn't react one bit. Gregory soon came over to Axel and they examined it together, this chip was a microprocessor kinda large for it's size and they could see the switch and each setting with small text engraved on it's side that had acronyms for each setting. They soon managed to find the "AL : Advanced Learning" feature, and pulled the switch to that mode. Gregory soon put the chip back in, and the little compartment door closed and Roxy didn't turn back on.

Both looked at Roxy for a few seconds before Roxanne turned back on. "All Systems Online" an automated voice said in Roxy's voice box. "Did you switch it?" Roxy said in her normal voice, and both Axel and Gregory nodded. "How do you feel?" Axel asked, "Well, im feeling something, that's for sure"

Axel and Gregory began packing, ready to go back home. As they did that, Roxy was looking around the garage. She was looking around like a curious cat, analyzing the area. "Alright Roxy, lets go home" Gregory said, Roxy soon followed them back to the car and Axel drove them back home. Roxy and Gregory sat in the backseat of the car, and Roxy looked outside the window the entire time, growing increasingly curious about the landscape.

They soon got home and it was dusk, Gregory and Proxy sat outside. "I know your not yet used to living in a place like this, but pretty soon you will be. Since we have you in that-" Gregory was interrupted when he heard the barking of a dog, soon he saw a small brown dog run up to them. Gregory kneeled down and petted the little dog, however Roxy walked over to the dog, and gently picked the dog up with both hands.

Roxy's eyes soon glowed and she scanned the dog, the same way she first scanned Gregory all those years ago. "That is a dog, Roxy. A descendent of the wolves", Roxy kept examining the dog, sniffing it and analyzing it's facial expressions, like it's ears. She soon gently placed the dog back down on the ground, and it soon ran off to its owner.

"Roxy?" Gregory said, Roxy soon lowered down, sitting like a dog and soon tilted her ears to the side and soon lowered them down to look like a dog with droopy ears. Gregory couldn't help but giggle at Roxy's adorable attempt to look like a dog, and he soon reached out his hand and patted Roxy on the head with it. "I see your learning pretty well!" Gregory said.

"I am, Woof Woof!"
