Sapnap had been to the local café load of times. It made college life easier by getting discounts because his friend Bad owns it. He wasn't broke but he wasn't rich, he was currently on a budget so getting some dollars off a biscuit and coffee to start his day was the best option. It was also a place he and his friends would chill or study, sometimes staying after hours when others were forced to leave with Bad checking up on them until they were forced out the door for the elders much needed rest.
Yet every time he's never seen him.
He was sure the only employees were, of course, bad himself, Skeppy, Puffy, and George. It was a small place after all. But apparently this time he was wrong.
Sapnap tapped his pencil down on the table almost obsessively as he stared over at the brunette boy whose hair seemed to be too long for his own good, swaying his head to the side in hopes of getting it out of his eyes and going back to taking orders.
"dude, will you stop?" Dream hissed, pushing his whole hand down to stop the anxious tapping noise.
"hey, Bad, who's your new worker?" Sapnap questioned, ignoring Dreams' irritating voice.
Bad set down multiple of the friend groups' drinks on the table, pulling out straws from his apron to gift with the liquids. He turned his head to look over to what sapnap seemed to be memorized by, yet he didn't catch on that raven head was anything more than curious.
"Oh, that's Karl. Just hired him, today's his first day. He's good. Such a nice guy and good with people," his cheerful voice responded.
George eyes him from the other side of dream who sat between them giving sapnap a smug look.
"interested are we?" his thick ascent made itself visible.
Sapnap rolled his eyes, throwing a rolled-up paper straw wrapper over at him, hitting him flat in the forehead.
"fuck off George. Control your boyfriend's Dream."
Dream paid no mind to the comment, continuing to type away on the laptop that sat in front of him.
George smirked once again, sticking his tongue out at the younger before going back to his paper.
"Jesus Christ, you're literally the oldest here and yet you act like a child" Sapnap grimaced.
"Not true, Bads' the oldest here!" George snapped back defensively.
"yet he's not over here" Sapnap smiled signaling over to Bad who was placing a brewed coffee on another customer's table with a genuine smile.
"Knock it off you two" Dream settled, no emotion apparent in his voice.
They both stopped the bickering from there on; George going back to his essay and Sapnap back to staring dazzled at the brunette who was now...gone?
Sapnap sat up in his seat, back straightened as he looked around the room anxiously for the boy, soon catching sight of him walking out the door with a tote bag in hand, waving goodbye to his fellow workers.
Now, if Sapnap had any balls he would've shot out of his seat, ran out of the shop with a vigorous stride, stopped the boy, and got his number. He would make it romantic, tell the boy how much he was memorized by his beauty and how he wants to take him out for dinner or an arcade date, whatever the other desired more. Or if he wasn't fond of those ideas maybe a movie or something- whatever he wanted.
But he didn't do that.
He was more than tired from getting up for his 8 am class with less than 3 hours of sleep from the forced studying by Dream who remembered the younger of his quiz the next day, which he was thankful for. Without the elder's great memory and dedication (no matter how annoying it could get), Sapnap would probably be failing right now, dragging his feet to the finish line that felt halfway across the sea to him.
