Patrick Bateman's Point of View, Tuesday Night --- 10:55PM
I like women. I like girls. Their smooth skin, narrow doe-eyes, pretty lips. I especially like when they wear corsets.
A week ago I got a new assistant. 'Name's Sara Mays. Some chick from New York, she's gorgeous. I'm still engaged to Evelyn, but I'm starting to realize that there's something about me and brunettes. At the same time, I needed Evelyn in the worst way. Evelyn is not as interesting as I am. I don't love her. I love the stability. It's more convenience for me. To her I'm her favourite accessory.
She doesn't try to impress me like everyone does. Doesn't really care about my social status or money either. I didn't like it but I liked the idea that I fit in. I could use her as much as I wanted to. I like that.
I get a call from Mays.
"Hi Patrick." She says relaxed.
"Are you at the office?"
"What? I mean, no-" Sara replied.
"What are you wearing?" I love getting to make girls nervous, feel special.
"Night gown." Hahahaha. I want to laugh, so I do.
"Are you going to bed, Mrs. Mays?" I cross my legs. I'm in my apartment.
"I was about to but I haven't yet. I still feel awake." There's no hesitance or fear in her voice. It doesn't tremble. It's not soft. It's not scared. Haha, I liked that.
"Mr. Bateman" she says.
"Yes, Sara?"
"You're in a relationship with Evelyn. A serious one." She says, it wasn't a questioning phrase, but what it meant was she was asking me to confirm. Did this chick want to flatter me?
"Uh, yeah." I didn't like stuttering, but if it made her feel like I was unsure in any kind of way, this could work.
"Tell me, Mrs. Mays, do you have a boyfriend?"
"uh, maybe."
"Patrick-" she says after a pause. "Sara-" I say almost immediately as she started speaking. "I think I need to go." She hung up the phone. But I wasn't going to act all tough and mad about it at work tomorrow morning.

Sara May's Point of View. Pierce & Pierce Office, --- 9:43 AM
I'm in the office, reviewing Patrick's investments. I set down the files and go to open the windows. I'd been working on this for the past 30 minutes and it wasn't the most interesting thing. I was easily distracted, which wasn't usually a problem for me. I walk up to the windows. I'm wearing a Black lace dress with some kind of laced up corset top. I thought it was pretty but I didn't want Patrick to get the idea I wanted him to feel attracted to me.
Patrick walks in. He's late. "Patrick, you're late." I tell him sternly, pulling the blinds open, back towards him. "My apologies Mrs. Mays, I have a strict morning regime. I've got to follow it if I want to look good." He smirks. "You look- good." I hesitated, which means I was thinking about it. I wasn't. I shouldn't have said that out loud. "Thank you." He chuckled. I see his reflection in the window, which was now open. "You look very pretty." I couldn't show interest. I knew he was attractive but I'm not stupid enough to fall for him. "You know you don't have to call me Mrs, by the way Mr. Bateman." I turn towards him. He's standing there, all confident with a grin on his face.
"Well, thank you. I figured you wanted to keep things professional, but I'm glad we're more than coworkers. You know, you're not just an assistant to me." Oh? I didn't respond immediately but I also didn't want to seem confused. If I did, he'd think I was some week chick who thought he could do anything he wanted to me. He walks real close to me and looks me straight in the eye "You're a very, very good friend." He nodds and smiles. He put emphasis on the very. I'm not an idiot though. I smile back at him, keeping our eye contact that we held. Of course I wasn't mad, I'm just not dumb.
"Well, we've got to go talk to some people. Come with me." He instructs. I follow him out to him and the other people that worked at Pierce & Pierce. All males. It made me uncomfortable for a second, but I can't let myself forget who I am.
"So, this is your new assistant?" The guy with slicked back brown hair asked. His name was Paul, I think.
"Yep. I wouldn't call Sara an assistant though, we're way more than that." Patrick replied. Ugh, I knew he knew what he was doing. He still looked so good doing it though. The 3 other guys laugh at Patrick. He laughs too.
"Hey. Respect her." He reminds them. Jeez, if he's lying right now he's a really good liar. I still can't let my guard down for this guy. No matter how fine he may be. I slightly adjust my position on the chair, one leg over the other. Patrick's eyes linger on my legs and wander up my body till my eyes. I don't blink when we look each other in the eyes.

Patrick Batemans Point of View
If this girl isn't actually acting better than me, I don't think I can control myself. I don't think I could marry Evelyn Richards like this and I think I have to. I have to fit in.
I need an excuse to get out of here.
