"I don't think You realize exactly what you're getting into."

Patrick gives me a tight lipped face. I don't get it. This guy is supposed to be smart but obviously can't tell that I'm not clueless and I know who Patrick Bateman is. At least mostly.

"What makes You think that" I fold my arms across my chest and don't blink as I stare into his eyes. "I like You, Mays. I really do but um," he places his hands in his pockets. "I don't think I can do this." Are You kidding me? There's no way I'm letting this self-centered man stand me up to something he committed to. I feel embarrassed. "What?" My voice begins to tremble softly.

"Look, I know You heard me. Let's just go back to You being my assistant." Why? Is Evelyn better?

"I don't understand. Do You not think I'm capable enough of holding a relationship with You?" I start blinking continuously, trying to stop my eyes from getting watery.

"There's so much about me You don't know." He replies sternly. "I'm doing this for your own good. Honestly, I haven't even fully decided yet so don't give up on me here but you'll be in danger. I'm afraid I can't control myself around You." He adds, leaning forward.

"So You leave Evelyn and made me feel attracted to You just for You to drop me the next day? I'm fine with personal space but what is this? You're a liar Patrick. You're a lying guy. Irritating, stuck up guy and I truly don't see what anyone else does in You." I argued back. I'm so sick of this. If anyone should be leaving the other, it should be me. It was a weird feeling. I hated Bateman, but not for him not liking me. Unless that's just what I wanted to believe and I was stupid for this all along.

"It was stupid to love me, alright?" He nodded. "I don't. You're being an idiot. I never loved you and I'm not stupid enough to fall for a guy so quickly. " I give him a last glance before storming out the door.

"You don't know me." He yells once the door shuts. I leave his apartment and call the office to tell them I'm quitting, before I can change my mind I dial the number while I'm in a taxi that's taking me to my house. I've had enough of this New York snob.

 ---"Hello, who's this?"

"This is Sara Mays. I work at Pierce & Pierce. I'm here to say that I'd like to.."  I pause for a second

---"Hello?" The caller checks in.

"Sorry. I wanted to say that I will no longer be working here.  I previously worked as Patrick Bateman's assistant?"

---"Okay. And does Mr. Bateman know about this?"

"Uh," I hesitate for a second. "Yeah. Yeah he does."

---"We've sent You an email to confirm this. Please fill out the form so that You are no longer registered as an employee at Pierce & Pierce."  Jeez that was quick.

I thank the driver and get out the car once I'm done.

---"Thank You for calling Pierce & Pierce. Have a good one."

 I hang up immediately after.

For the rest of the day I couldn't stop thinking about Patrick. I couldn't control it either so I get in bed and take a nap. I end up waking up the next day.
