I'm waiting outside my apartment building which Patrick already knew the address of. It's about 8:00 PM, not hot but a bit on the warm side and the sky was dark. I just took a quick phone call with Patrick and he's on his way. He didn't live far from me. I live in the city. He lives in the city.
The car window slides open and I see Patrick sitting there, all fancy in his suit. "Good afternoon love. » He greets me. « Hi Patrick. » I say, he opens the car door for me and I sit in the back seat diagonal to him, with arms and legs crossed glaring out the window at all the city street lights and luxurious buildings. New York was something I'll never regret. « Aren't you a doll, » he teases at my unimpressed tone when I said hi. He looks at me in the mirror and tilts it towards me. He had his eyes on mine for a second, but I caught him getting a glimpse at my body for a split second. I tell myself I'm overreacting and we get to Dorsia in a matter of minutes.

« Table for two, please. » Patrick grins, holding out his ticket for our reservation. « Me and the lovely girl. » He nodes, hands in his pockets and smirking.
« Private room? » The ticketman says, scanning the paper ticket Patrick handed him just a second ago.
« Yes. Yes please. »
« Right this way. » A skinny young guy with black hair steps in and takes us to our table quickly.

Patrick and I wait for the guy to leave, but Bateman's not afraid to look at me. He looks me up and down as I take my seat. He manspreads on his chair and rolls his tongue against the roof of his mouth.
« I like your dress. » Patrick compliments me. « You look very pretty. »
« I like your suit. Valentino? » I return.
« You're a smart girl, aren't you? » He smirks.
Patrick and I order our food. We get talking more and more and I realize how deeply this man thinks. I knew he was smart but not to the level that I had realized.
« Sara,  do you like wine? » Patrick asked me.
« I'm not sure. I'm pretty particular with wine. » I say.
"I believe you certainly are a lot like me then." Oh?
"What kind of wine would you drink then? I can get us any." He reaches out his hand and places it on the table.
"I like rosé." I said straight up.
"Really. Evelyn wouldn't like you then. She hates rosé. We had it one time at Lafleur, you know, the bar downtown?" Patrick tells me. I felt as if he could tell me about anything and his calming voice could hypnotize me. I hate that I can't control how I feel towards him.
"I didn't know they sold rosé there?" I tilt my head.
"I believe  you're right. It was just watered down." Patrick said. Gosh, there was something so seductive about him and I couldn't handle it. I wondered if he felt the same. No, he couldn't. I'm just another girl.

"Sara." He leans forward at the table. "Hm?"

"I hate to be pushy but," he smiles and pauses. "I've got a reservation at a 5 star hotel in the city. Don't know if you know it, it's called the Chateau. It's french for castle. I broke up with my fiancé, Evelyn."

"Oh." I reply. "I'm sorry about Evelyn." I said. "Oh don't worry about her. I don't need any pity, there's other ways you can repay me." Patrick stares at me, a still expression remaining on his cold face. There's no way he's clueless about what he's saying. "I'm just messing with you," he chuckles and rolls his eyes at me. "I believe a lot of people hated her and honestly I could see why." From what he said and the hard set of his jaw, I'm guessing he had grew to be one of them.

"I'll go." I said. "Perfect." He smiles nice. His smile was nice. Patrick runs a hand through his hair before we keep talking and finish our food. "I'll call us a taxi and they'll take us there as soon as you're done with that." He explains, talking about the leftover food on my plate. He didn't finish his but I didn't say anything about it.

_____

I get into the back seat of the taxi under all the bright street lights and sky-high apartments, Patrick takes a seat in the front. I don't think you're supposed to do that but I don't think Patrick Bateman cared. When we get out of the car, Patrick gave the driver his business card and explained it in detail before handing the man a tip of 40$. Was he trying to impress me? Pathetic.
