Friends With Feelings

How It All Started

*beep beep*
I looked over at my phone to see another Happy Birthday text, but from a number I didn't know
I scroll through my notifications and find another text from Blake with Vinnie Hacker's number and they matched.
My phone fell to the floor and my jaw dropped. When I asked Blake for Vinnie's number for my 20th birthday I didn't think I would actually get it.
I called my best friend Spencer freaking out not even knowing how to respond.

*Flashback to junior year of high school*
"Oh my gosh I just submitted my promposal to Blake Gray and I'm so nervous!" I was standing outside my locker staring at my phone
"I hope he sees it that would be so cool for you" my best friend Spencer stared over my shoulder at my phone with me.
"I can't believe I did that I never do things like that what if he says yes what will I do?? I don't even know if I'd be able to keep my composure."
"Josephine, calm down. I'm sure he's gotten many of these. Plus he has a girlfriend so I doubt he will accept, but he'll probably see it. Don't worry about it if you don't have to."
"Yeah you're right Spencer, and he probably won't see it right away so I'll just put my phone away and we can go get lunch."

*A few days later*

*ring ring ring*
"Hello?"
"JOSEPHINE HAVE YOU SEEN BLAKE'S NEW VIDEO??? YOU'RE IN IT"
"Ohmygod Spencer NO WAY!!"
I opened my laptop and went straight to YouTube and there I was with Blake reacting to my promposal. I was down the line, but I've been in love with Blake for as long as I can remember and now he knows I exist!
"Spencer let me call you back I need to process this for a minute"
"Okay I'll call you later, or actually can I spend the night?"
"Yeah sure just come over around 8 tonight"
"Okay bye love you Jo"
"Love you too Spence"

*Later that night*

Spencer and I were just hanging in my room, she was trying to braid my hair because she's really good at it. I have shoulder length blonde hair and it's my favorite. Spencer has long red hair, and you'd never know she wasn't an actual red head.
*beep beep*
I look over at my phone and see Blake Gray just followed me on musically!
"SPENCE LOOK" I screamed like a little girl.
"JO OHMYGOSH HE FOLLOWED YOU?"
"Yeah and I HAVE A MESSAGE TOO WHAT THE - "
I opened the message and it had his phone number and him saying he wants to talk about the promposal.
"AAAAHHHHHHHH" Spencer and I both scream at the same time and start freaking.
"Should I text him?" My fingers were shaking so bad
"Uh, duh! I doubt he sends his number to just anyone!" Josephine grabbed my phone to read the message herself and started texting him from my phone.

Texts with Blake
J- Hey it's Josephine, you wanted to talk about the promposal?
B- I wasn't expecting you to text so quickly, thanks for responding! I really like the video I thought it was creative but-
That but made my heart drop and I just stopped reading
Spencer grabbed my phone and read the rest
B- I do have a girlfriend, and I honestly don't think she would be comfortable with it.
I sat there and bawled my eyes out. I wasn't trying to be his girlfriend, people go to prom all the time that doesn't mean dating or anything. I was also just overwhelmed that Blake Gray actually texted me.
B- You seem really cool though so I'd like to keep in touch

*Flash forward a couple months later when musically became tik tok*

I started making tik tok videos and my follower count kind of went up, I was at just under 1000 followers and for a small island girl in Hawaii I was pretty proud of myself.
It was a Saturday afternoon in the summer and I get a FaceTime from Blake, and we haven't talked since that day he texted me.

"Hello?"
"Hey Josephine how's it going?"
"Pretty good, how are you?"
"I'm doing great I noticed your follower count is going up on tik tok, are you trying to get somewhere with that?"
"I mean kinda but not really, I've been stuck at my follower count for a while so I don't know"
"Well I can help you out and mentor you with it if you want, give you feedback and stuff like that."
"Really? Yeah I think that would help a lot thank you!"

Blake and I continue to talk for a while just about life, he's from Texas and lives in L.A. most of the time. I'm from Kauai and I've never really been anywhere else. He was telling me all about the places he's been and that he'd love to come out to Hawaii. Him and his girlfriend broke up, I thought they were cute together and I could tell he was sad about it.
We started talking a lot more, he's a total doof. Now that I know him I don't think I could ever date him but he's become like my big brother. My mom has even talked to him and she likes him, and she doesn't like anybody.
