Friends With Feelings

Valentine's Day

It's been 2 weeks since Vinnie texted me and we've been talking every single day. Every time my phone lights up my heart skips a beat and I hope it's him, but I would never tell him that. Who knows how many other girls he's entertaining.

*February 13*
"What are we going to do tomorrow? Neither one of us have dates!" Spencer was frantically putting her laundry away while I sat on her bed.

"I don't know, we can just go do something together like we always do." I wish I could spend Valentine's Day with Vinnie.

"Jo, I love you, but we literally spend every day together. You're talking to someone, I want a boyfriend so bad. I've been single for so long and if I don't have a date I'm gonna die!" Spencer started swiping through bumble like a madwoman.

"First of all get off of bumble, you remember what happened the last time- absolutely not. Yeah but who knows how many other girls Vinnie talks to so I'm not taking it that serious."

*beep beep*
V- Hey :) do you have a valentine by chance?
J- Not unless you count Spencer, but she's determined to find a date so it's just me
V- I'll be your valentine ;)
J- But you're not here
V- ApplePay for $50
V- go buy yourself some flowers from me

"Hey Spence I'll buy you flowers for Valentine's Day, Vinnie just sent me money for flowers but those aren't really my thing, let's go!"

Spencer and I went and bought some flowers from a nice lady, and went about our day just hanging at the house.

*A little while later
*beep beep*
V- Did you buy yourself some flowers?
J- Hmmm maybe
V- I wanna see
J- Well you see technically I bought my best friend flowers actually
V- What? That was for you!
J- Flowers don't cost that much, I'm sure I'll still use it for something don't worry
V- 🙄

"I think I made Vinnie mad."

"How'd you manage that?"

"Apparently I was supposed to buy myself flowers not you,"

"Well he's the one who thought they would cost fifty dollars so that's on him."

"Yeah, true. Hey we should go down to the beach for the night, camp out and maybe find you a boyfriend!"

"I'm so down- let's start packing!"

Spencer and I packed up our hammocks and some snacks for the night. We made our way down to Poipu beach around sunset, and there were some guys playing volleyball. No girls anywhere in sight, we got a front row seat. Vinnie hadn't texted me anything else so I just put my phone away for the night.

"Do you want to go see if we can play? I need to get my mind off of Vinnie."

"I mean I feel like I suck compared to you, but sure!"

Spencer and I make our way down to the net as one of the guys goes sideways and crashes into her. 

"Ow! Hey watch where you're going! That hurt!"

I'm so sorry, I didn't see you there! Here let me help you!"

I sit back and watch this tall, muscular, tan man lift my best friend back onto her feet.

"Thanks, we were actually coming down to see if we could join you guys. I'm Spencer and that's Josephine or Jo for short. What's your name?"

"I'm Toby, and these are my buddies; Lance, Zach, and Alex."

I finally step into the conversation, "Nice to meet you! I played volleyball in high school. Spencer hasn't played much outside of just for fun."

"I mean we don't take it too seriously, like we know we aren't going to win any medals but we can get competitive. So you girls wanna split sides?"

"Sure Toby! Spencer can be with you and Zach and I'll be with Alex and Lance!"

By the end of the night Spencer's team won 2 games and my team won 2 games. Spencer also won Toby's number, that was the ultimate win right there. I got Zach's Snapchat but I didn't really plan on talking to him much. I'll add anyone on snap and start a streak, doesn't mean I'll get to know you.

The guys left and Spencer and I just sat and watched the ocean. We finally fell asleep and I dreamed about Vinnie.
