I looked at the prince, wondering how he had found us. Lex takes a step in front of me, and takes one last look at me before turning and looking at Jed. "I won't let you lay a hand on her, its my duty to protect her. I can take on all five of you if I have too." Lex stated, grabbing the handle to his sword. Looking past Lex, a smirk form on Jeds face. "What a sad excuse for a man" Jed scuffed. "Like hell i'd waste my time on the likes of you when I could be having some personal bonding with the pretty little thing behind you" He said, watching Lex's face twitch out of anger. Lex pulls his sword, going into a fighting stance as I backed up against a wall. I take a quick look around, but all I can see is a Fire poker next to the Fireplace. I grab it quickly, hoping to be able to defend myself. The 4 men behind Jed drew their swords, and Jed stepped to the side leaving the space between Lex and the men empty. Lex made the first swing, getting quickly deflected by one of the men. In a matter of seconds, Lex was breathing heavily as his stamina slowed and his ability to keep the men at a distance was failing. I feel eyes on me, and stare to meet his eyes again. 'Why does he keep looking at me like that? What is it that he wants? If he is here to kill me, wouldn't he have drawn his sword already?' Thoughts race across my mind, as i can feel sweat droplets begin to form on my face.
I avert my attention back to Lex, breaking the eye contact with Jed. I watch Lex for a few seconds, worried as I see blood drip down his leg. In this moment, Jed had made a swift move over to me and put his hand on my chin turning my attention back to him "You don't need to see whats about to happen, how about you keep your eyes on me?" He said, in a reassuring softer tone then I heard him use before. I attempt to turn my head once more, but this time he used force to keep my eyes on him. "Don't turn your head away from me" He said in a stern tone, and this time I obey. "Drop that 'weapon' in your hand, why would you pick a fire poker?" He said, letting out a bit of a chuckle under his breath. I drop it without hesitation, as my body shakes from fear. I hear a loud grunt, and someone fall. I keep my eyes on Jed, but I know who fell. It's over, he's going to kill me.
