Chapter 34

Take Them

The moment the event started, I looked around to search for Minho. Not long after, I met a familiar pair of eyes that locked with mine. I saw him smile and I returned an eye smile too. He was just three tables away from me on my left side. He's with his own team of traitors so that means me and the other students are safe the entire duration of the event. That's what I hope.

"To all the district leaders and students that came in the event tonight, thank you for coming and you're welcome!" An man on his early 30s stood on the glamouring stage. He also has his masquerade on, a wine on his hand and a microphone on the other. "I am the leader of District 7, Mr. Oh Daejun.

Series of cheers and claps were heard so I did the same to not feel drowsy. I usually hate events like these, I only lasts for an hour or two then after that, I'm willing to do anything just for this to end and for me to go home.

"Tonight, is the time to seal the deal and the alliance between District 7 and District 12. Our partnership will be a great help for the government's plans in the future, I assure. Mr. Lee So Man!" Mr. Oh called and the leader of District 12 came up on stage. "Cheers to our partnership and future plans!"

They do the handshakes and raised the glass of wine afterwards, earning a glorious series of cheers and claps from the audience.

As soon as I got the taste of the bitter liquid, I glanced at Minho only to find him glaring at me. I understood what he meant by the glare so I drank all the wine from my glass and stuck a tongue to him. That made him look at me with a shock but serious expression on his face while I just giggled secretly.

"Enjoying ourself, aren't we?" Pia suddenly came into view, blocking my sight to Minho. I looked at her with a confused expression on my face. She gave me a smile and took the empty seat beside me that was once a seat to one of my teammate who's now roaming around the place with the other students.

"Uh, I guess so." I looked down.

"Oh, come on." Pia laughed. "I'm certain you're not the type to go out and be here on these kinds of events. I've been watching you from the other table and you look like a lost puppy finding her owner." She said, which sounds rude to me.

I chose to stay silent and just nodded my head and roam my sight around the place. Pia continued muttering some nonsense things while my mind strays away from reality. If only my friends were here with me, we would've been tasting every single food in here by now. I miss how messy and dorky they are.
