[Y/N] stood up, feeling her eyes sore, as if she had been crying. Strong arms were wrapped around her waist and, seeing that it was Yata, she couldn't help but blush. The red-haired man looked at her carefully, and she smiled slightly at him, although her smile immediately disappeared as she remembered the previous day. Ryu. Blood. Pain. Death. Her eyes began to water again, and Yata bit his lip nervously; he didn't know what to do in order to make the young woman feel better.

"Thanks for staying, Yata-chan", she whispered in a broken voice. "I-I feel a little better when you're here", she admitted sadly.

Yata blushed, as a warm feeling filled his heart. Why had those words made him so happy? A shy knock on the door spared him from having to answer. Seeing that [Y/N] just stared at the door without making an attempt to move, the boy got up and opened it, only to find the small Anna on the other side.

"There's a meeting. You both should come down; the Blue King has sent us the report and maybe we can find out something", she said.

[Y/N] reacted quickly and got out of bed, standing next to Yata. Although she just felt like spending the day hiding in bed, the albino's words had reminded her that she had no idea what had happened to Ryu, and she needed to find out. Despite the fact that Anna hadn't mentioned him directly, she was sure that the report had something to do with him. Eager, [Y/N] grabbed the little girl with one hand and Yata with the other, and dragged them downstairs with her.

Tatara gave the young woman a sad look when he saw her arrive, with large dark circles around her puffy eyes. She must have had the worst night of her life. However, seeing how tightly she held Yata's hand gave him hope that all was not as bad as it seemed. After seeing the state she was in the day before, the chestnut had feared that they had lost her forever. That simple squeeze may have been just the thing that would help her pull herself together.

"Wh... What did you find out?". The boys, who had still not noticed her presence, turned around at her raspy voice.

[Y/N] felt uncomfortable when she felt so many sympathetic glances directed towards her and, unconsciously, she pressed herself closer to Yata. To everyone's surprise, the redhead, instead of pulling away, swallowed, and hesitantly placed an arm around the girl's shoulders in an attempt to reassure her. He wasn't sure if it was effective or not, but he had seen it in many movies, and she didn't seem to mind.

Eric raised an eyebrow when he saw Yata's gesture, although he decided not to say anything upon seeing how his friend's face relaxed a little at the redhead's touch. He didn't quite understand how they had gone from arguing all day to feeling so close, but as long as [Y/N] was okay, it wasn't something he was worried about either. If Yata hurt her again, he could simply punch him once more.

Mikoto tapped the couch beside him for Anna and [Y/N] to sit next to him. Somewhat reluctantly, she parted from Yata and took a seat next to the Red King, who ruffled her hair with affection. Tatara had told them how important it was that the young woman not feel alone in such a difficult time.

"Munakata has... sent us the full autopsy report", Mikoto explained, hesitating for a brief moment on how to approach the subject. Normally he didn't give any importance to the way he said things, but with [Y/N] and Anna he was more attentive as he felt he had the duty  to protect them.

"[Y/N]... Ryu was already... He had already...", tried to explain Tatara.

"He was already dead when they sent you those messages", finished Izumo for him.
