Following the worst two weeks of her life, Cora went back to school. She could feel the sad gazes of students and friends as she walked by, the murmurs filled her ears as well. She could sense and smell the guilt, sadness and even relief that it wasn't them who lost their parents but her.
Prior to her return, she had been stuck in her new room at the Potters. She locked herself in it, answering to no one and only coming out for food and the bathroom. She felt numb, disgusted, and tired... of everything.
She was lost; she had no one anymore. Yeah, she had James, Lily and Harry but that was different. She wanted her parents. They were always there for her, and the time she needed them the most, they were gone. Poof. Fuck Bellatrix. Fuck Voldemort. Fuck every Dark Wizard that every lived. She didn't know exactly who killed them but, until she found out... all of them will pay..
Cj remembered that night like it was yesterday. The day was cold, and the sky was very gray. That night, everyone had a Dailey Prophet in their hands.
TWO WIZARDS DEAD BY THE HANDS OF DEATHEATERS!
I remember it distinctively.
That's all our group and anyone could talk about. Who was it? What happened?
"Poor people.." I spoke, unknowingly.
"Yeah-" Ron started, as the common room opened.
"Mrs. Lupin- Black, may I see you?" Minnie spoke, her expression unbeknownst to me.
"Sure..?" I replied.
Unknown to me, my friends looked at each other with worry.
As we walked, I started to get nervous. Next to me, Minnie was most definitely nervous and... sad?
We made our way to the office and I sat down in her chairs. The next moments were one of the worst in my life.
"Cora... you know about the uh wizards.. Correct?" Minnie spoke, her voice cracked.
That's when she knew.
Cj could remember the distinct look of consternation and melancholy minnie had given her, the look went so deep it would haunt her forever.
She remembered the way her voice dropped lower as she told her the horrid truth; her parents were dead, she was an orphan.
Cora Lupin- Black was alone.
Cora shook as her worst fears became true.
"No.. no.. no.." She screamed as she fell to her knees as the world became dark.
Her world broke into a million pieces and she knew... it could never be fixed.
