I stood at the side of the road, shivering slightly in my favourite thick black hoodie. I wriggled my shoulders, trying to ease the aching sensation that was being caused by my heavy backpack that was threatening to pull me right over. I saw my taxi puffing along in the distance, rumbling loudly down the uneven road. I put my hand out and grasped the handle of my suitcase, pulling it onto two wheels, and stepped forward, holding out my arm. The taxi came to a gradual stop next to me, and the driver leapt out of the car and came over to me. He took my suitcase and heaved it into his trunk, before getting back in and starting the car up again. I opened the back door and slid into the backseat, shoving my backpack onto the seat next to me. I was nervous.
My thoughts raced as the taxi drove down road after road after road. Why was I doing this? I hardly knew anything about this guy! What if I didn't like him? Why didn't I just stay put!? My mind came to an immediate stop after the last thought. Traumatic memories of life living with my parents flashed through my mind, sending a shiver down my spine, causing me to tremble. I tried to calm my thoughts. I'm doing this because I have to. It'll all be fine. He sounded nice enough on the phone, so.......everything would be fine.
